Within the Tech, Data, AI, Ventures (TDAV) organization, our work is guided by a shared vision: deploying the power of technology, data, AI and ventures to accelerate sustainable competitive advantage for New York Life's businesses. We build solutions that power how we serve policy owners, agents, advisors and employees while delivering measurable business outcomes.

Business Overview

New York Life is advancing an AI-led transformation of Portfolio Management across OCIO and NYLIM, with the ambition of using the same trusted investment intelligence that supports internal decision-making to improve how investment capabilities, insights, and outcomes are communicated to clients and distribution partners.

The Client & Distribution domain encompasses client reporting, institutional distribution workflows, RFP and DDQ responses, investment content, client intelligence, and related experiences. The opportunity is to move from fragmented, manually assembled processes that can take days or weeks toward continuously available, governed, personalized, and intelligence-enabled capabilities.

Role Overview

The Corporate Vice President, Client & Distribution Technology provides senior end-to-end technology leadership for Client Reporting & Distribution within New York Life's AI-led Portfolio Management transformation. The leader owns the technology strategy and roadmap spanning client reporting, RFP/DDQ workflows, investment content, distribution enablement, client intelligence, applications, data, analytics, AI, agentic capabilities, engineering, controls, and production readiness.

The role is expected to reimagine how investment information is transformed into timely, accurate, tailored, and compliant client and distribution experiences. It requires strong judgment about authoritative content, personalization, provenance, approvals, entitlements, and how generative AI can accelerate content and response workflows without compromising accuracy or regulatory obligations.

The leader will operate across NYLIM, OCIO, Distribution, Client Service, Marketing where relevant, Technology, Data & Analytics, Architecture, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and strategic partners to build scalable enterprise capabilities rather than isolated automation solutions.

What You'll Do

Client & Distribution Technology Leadership
• Own the end-to-end technology strategy and roadmap for client reporting, institutional distribution, RFP/DDQ workflows, investment content, and related client-service capabilities.
• Reimagine manual and fragmented reporting and response workflows into continuously available, governed, reusable, and personalized capabilities.
• Enable investment teams and distribution professionals to access trusted portfolio, performance, strategy, and market information with appropriate context and controls.
• Create scalable capabilities that can support multiple products, client segments, and distribution channels without proliferating bespoke solutions.
• Establish measurable outcomes tied to response time, content reuse, client-service productivity, accuracy, adoption, and business value.

AI, Content & Agentic Workflows
• Define responsible use of generative AI and agents for drafting, assembling, validating, personalizing, and maintaining client and distribution content.
• Enable agentic workflows for RFP/DDQ responses, client reporting preparation, investment-content retrieval, and contextual question answering using governed information.
• Ensure generated content is grounded in authoritative sources, traceable, reviewable, and subject to appropriate human approval.
• Determine where deterministic data and templates are required versus where generative capabilities add value.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and AI governance functions to embed appropriate controls from inception.

Technology, Architecture & Data
• Partner with Solution Engineering & Architecture to define scalable experience, content, workflow, API, integration, and agent patterns.
• Partner with the cross-bet Data Architect on authoritative investment and client data, semantic consistency, lineage, provenance, entitlements, and access patterns.
• Integrate portfolio, performance, product, market, research, client, CRM, content, and other relevant enterprise sources as appropriate.
• Make build, buy, reuse, platform, and partner decisions that balance speed, enterprise reuse, compliance, portability, and long-term sustainability.
• Ensure solutions are secure, observable, resilient, auditable, and production ready.

Discovery, Delivery & Partner Leadership
• Partner with the Business Discovery & Solution Strategy Lead for Private Markets, Reporting & Distribution to define future-state client and distribution workflows and priorities.
• Use prototypes and user feedback to validate experiences, content workflows, AI behavior, controls, and architecture assumptions before scaling.
• Lead multidisciplinary outcome teams involving Product Owners, Forward Deployed Analysts, Forward Deployed Engineers, Obin AI engineers, distribution/client SMEs, Data SMEs, and Risk/Control partners.
• Drive workforce and capacity planning and manage strategic partners with clear accountability for quality, outcomes, and knowledge transfer.
• Maintain continuity from discovery through production, adoption, and ongoing enhancement.

Executive Partnership, Controls & Value
• Build trusted relationships with senior NYLIM, OCIO, Distribution, Client Service, and Technology leaders and translate business priorities into technology investments.
• Balance personalization and speed with accuracy, brand standards, client confidentiality, regulatory requirements, and enterprise controls.
• Embed entitlements, approval workflows, recordkeeping, provenance, Legal/Compliance requirements, and auditability into the solution lifecycle.
• Establish transparent measures of adoption, turnaround time, quality, reuse, productivity, client experience, and business value.

Talent & Organizational Leadership
• Build, lead and develop high performing teams with strong domain knowledge and modern technology and engineering capabilities.
• Attract, develop and retain forward deployed and other high caliber technology talent, while building technology leadership and domain expertise across the organization.
• Establish clear accountability and a culture of collaboration, innovation, engineering discipline and continuous improvement.
• Lead effectively through both direct authority and matrixed relationships across Business, Product, Technology and partner teams.

What You'll Bring

Required Experience
• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in technology, software engineering, solution delivery, digital transformation, investment technology, data/analytics, or related disciplines, including significant leadership responsibility in complex enterprise environments.
• Proven experience owning end-to-end technology capabilities or major transformation domains from strategy through architecture, engineering, implementation, production, adoption, and measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrated success operating in federated or matrixed enterprises and influencing senior business and technology stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
• Broad technology and engineering background spanning modern application development, APIs and integration, data and analytics, cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, automation, and emerging technologies.
• Strong understanding of generative AI, agentic technologies, and AI-assisted engineering and their practical application to enterprise workflows and software delivery.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technology teams and managing strategic partners, contractors, and federated resources.
• Experience making consequential technology, architecture, investment, sequencing, and resource tradeoffs in complex transformation environments.
• Experience operating within enterprise Risk, Security, Compliance, Audit, and control environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, prioritization, systems-thinking, and executive-influence capabilities.

Required Skills
• Domain Technology Leadership - Owns the complete technology capability for a major business domain, not simply an application portfolio.
• Technology & Engineering Judgment - Evaluates solution approaches, architecture and data implications, engineering tradeoffs, and production risks.
• Systems Thinking - Understands interactions across business workflows, applications, data, analytics, architecture, controls, and operating models.
• AI-Enabled Transformation - Identifies where AI and agentic capabilities can materially change workflows, decisions, and delivery economics.
• Executive Communication & Influence - Creates clarity, drives decisions, and influences senior stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
• Strategic Planning & Execution - Converts future-state ambition into prioritized roadmaps, investments, sequencing, and executable outcomes.
• Enterprise Delivery Discipline - Applies SDLC, Agile and Lean principles pragmatically with strong dependency, release, and production-readiness management.
• Talent & Partner Leadership - Builds strong teams and integrates internal, federated, and external engineering capacity around common outcomes.
• Risk & Control Judgment - Integrates security, data governance, compliance, auditability, and operational resilience into technology decisions from inception.
• People Management - Develops and empowers talent through clear expectations, actionable feedback, effective coaching, and accountability, while fostering an inclusive, high-performing team environment.

Preferred Experience
• Experience with asset management distribution, institutional client service, client reporting, RFP/DDQ processes, or investment-content technology.
• Experience with CRM, content-management, reporting, document-generation, workflow, or client-experience platforms.
• Experience applying generative AI to content, reporting, knowledge retrieval, or client-service workflows in a controlled environment.
• Experience within asset management, insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry with significant client communication requirements.
