Position OverviewAs a Corporate Facilities Engineer I within PNC's Realty Services organization, you will be based in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC or Houston, TX.
Role Overview
This position is responsible for leading and overseeing the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) aspects of new construction and renovation projects across PNC's retail and corporate portfolio. The role combines engineering oversight, design review, construction support, and operational integration to ensure retail banks and commercial office buildings are safe, functional, cost-effective, and maintainable over their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Design Oversight
• Manages all aspects of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) systems for new construction and renovation projects.
• Serves as the primary reviewer of test fits and design development documents, with a focus on system performance, constructability, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• Conducts detailed reviews of drawings, specifications, and submittals throughout the design process to ensure alignment with PNC standards and project objectives.
• Directs and coordinates activities of external engineers, consultants, and contractors to support successful project delivery.
• Ensures conformance to all applicable municipal codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Construction Administration & Field Execution
• Works closely with Realty Services Design & Construction Project Managers to support construction administration activities.
• Provides MEPF technical oversight during construction, including reviewing RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Leverages peer Engineer Managers (Facilities Engineers) to perform site visits and field verification within assigned markets.
• Supports issue resolution during construction to maintain schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
Standards Development & Continuous Improvement
• Helps develop, maintain, and continuously improve MEPF design and construction standards, with a focus on system reliability, lifecycle cost, energy performance, and maintainability.
• Identifies opportunities to enhance standardization, efficiency, and overall building performance across the portfolio.
• Evaluates and supports the implementation of new technologies and solutions that improve operational outcomes.
Facilities Engineering & Operations Support
• Supports facility operations and maintenance initiatives related to MEPF infrastructure across the portfolio.
• Participates in inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) programs to ensure building systems remain safe and functional.
• Assists with vendor management, contract performance oversight, and service delivery improvements.
• Contributes to capital planning efforts, including preparation of project budgets and capital expense plans.
• Ensures that assigned building infrastructure systems are maintained in a safe and operational condition through testing, specification, and lifecycle management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent relevant experience required.
• Experience with construction project management is required; PMP certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in MEPF engineering, design review, or construction support within commercial or retail environments strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
• Strong expertise in construction drawing review, specification development, and document markup is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint required.
• Ability to evaluate engineering designs for performance, code compliance, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
Professional Skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Travel Requirements
This role requires frequent travel (approximately 50-60%), typically consisting of two-night trips during the workweek, three or more weeks per month. Travel is primarily by air within PNC's footprint, with a focus on supporting operations and growth in National Expansion Markets. This position is eligible for a PNC-provided vehicle for business-related travel.
Work Location & Flexibility Expectations
This position is not a fully remote or work-from-home role. The selected candidate will be assigned a primary office location and is expected to maintain a regular in-office presence when not traveling, consistent with business needs and team expectations.
Given the extensive travel requirements of the role, PNC recognizes the need for reasonable flexibility in work arrangements. The employee is expected to remain actively engaged in their responsibilities, including project work, design reviews, collaboration, and operational support activities. This role requires consistent availability for both in-person and virtual collaboration, and the ability to work effectively across geographically dispersed teams.
PNC supports a results-driven work environment and does not rely on strict time tracking. Employees are expected to manage their schedules responsibly to meet performance expectations. Reasonable flexibility is provided to accommodate personal needs during the workday, particularly in recognition of the demands associated with frequent travel. However, this flexibility does not change the expectation that the role maintains full-time engagement and accountability when not traveling.
Job Description- Performs routine to complex engineering projects throughout a portfolio of properties.

- Prepares electrical, mechanical, plumbing or fire safety budgets. Manages resources and materials within budget. Prepares capital expense project plan.
- Ensures that all assigned building infrastructures are safe and functional through testing and product specification/maintenance.
