Full Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Environmental Management System

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a corporate Environmental Management System.
  • Develop and maintain corporate environmental policies, procedures, standards, and tools.
  • Define the scope of the Environmental Management System, aspect and impacts, applicability, and site level roles and responsibilities.
  • Lead periodic management reviews of environmental performance, compliance status, and program effectiveness.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement of environmental programs across all sites.


Regulatory Compliance & Permitting

  • Maintain a centralized inventory of environmental permits, reports, approvals, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Interpret and apply applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including stormwater, SPCC, air, and waste requirements.
  • Ensure timely permit renewals, regulatory reporting, inspections, and required compliance actions.
  • Serve as the primary corporate point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies, as needed.
  • Support response to regulatory inspections, findings, notices of violation, and corrective actions.


Site Support & Oversight

  • Collaborate with manufacturing sites to establish clear environmental roles, responsibilities, and expectations at each operating facility.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to site leadership and designated environmental owners.
  • Conduct internal environmental audits, compliance assessments, and site reviews.
  • Support incident response, spill investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with operations and engineering during process changes, equipment installations, and facility modifications.
  • Work with necessary stakeholders and partners as part of Environmental, Social, and Governance business activities.
  • Collaborate with various workgroups as part of company supply chain compliance efforts.


Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and evaluate environmental aspects and impacts associated with company strategy and operations.
  • Standardize operational controls for high-risk environmental activities.
  • Track environmental metrics, incidents, corrective actions, and program effectiveness.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce environmental risk, improve compliance assurance, and enhance performance.


Training & Communication

  • Develop and deploy environmental training programs.
  • Ensure awareness of environmental responsibilities at all levels of the organization.
  • Communicate regulatory changes, Environmental Management System expectations, and priorities to site leadership and corporate stakeholders.


Consultant & Vendor Management

  • Manage and strategically utilize environmental consultants, laboratories, and service providers.
  • Transition environmental activities to internal ownership where appropriate.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of any outsourced environmental services.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, including stormwater, SPCC, air permitting, and waste management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or managing environmental management systems.
  • Strong project management skills to drive initiatives across the organization; multi-site experience is a plus.
  • Experience in administering and auditing environmental programs and hands-on experience managing and/or auditing in an industrial setting.
  • Experience collaborating and working with internal and external Legal Counsel and consultants.
  • Ability to work effectively with plant leadership, operations teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • 7+ years of environmental compliance experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments, inclusive of direct oversight and management of environmental permits.
  • Experience building and implementing environmental management systems
