Summary:

The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance departments to ensure optimal performance of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. This role focuses on developing and executing preventive maintenance strategies, managing resources effectively, and driving operational excellence to minimize downtime while supporting production and business objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Direct and manage maintenance teams across multiple departments and facilities.
  • Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance standards for maintenance operations.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions and downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and other regulatory standards.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor maintenance budgets including labor, materials, and capital expenditures.
  • Optimize resource allocation and control costs without compromising quality or safety.
  • Oversee the repair, servicing, installation, and modification of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history within CMMS.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and reliability and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), maintenance metrics, and cost data to leadership.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to align maintenance activities with operational needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, increase efficiency, and reduce downtime.
  • Implement best practices and leverage technology and data-driven tools to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has direct supervisory responsibility for maintenance supervisors, technicians, and related maintenance personnel across assigned departments and/or facilities.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing and facilities environment with time split between production floor, maintenance areas, and office settings. The position routinely uses standard office equipment and may be exposed to noise, moving machinery, varying temperatures, and industrial conditions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, and occasionally lift moderate loads. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness is required.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a salaried, exempt level, full-time position with standard working days/hours of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with overtime as necessary to complete required tasks.

Travel

Travel is moderate and primarily associated with visits to manufacturing facilities, vendors, or project sites. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (Associate degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered).
  • Five (5) or more years of maintenance management or related leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting industrial equipment, facilities maintenance, and capital asset management.


Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience with CMMS platforms.
  • Background in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Manufacturing or industrial operations experience.
