Full Job Description
This position provides legal service and advice to business units. What You'll be Doing: • Provides sound legal advice and effectively integrates business and legal issues in such advice. • Counsels with substantial experience in areas of responsibility and is a legal advisor to business partners for employment related matters, with primary responsibility for counseling on employment matters. • Ability to manage employment litigation, arbitration, and civil rights charges filed with the EEOC and state and local agencies. • Knowledgeable regarding local, state and federal laws pertaining to employment and employee benefits, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. • Shares responsibility for an area of the law and/or business unit support with others in practice group. • May assist in management and oversight of external counsel and/or in-house paralegals. • Ability to function at a high level, work independently, and engage in direct contact and advice with management personnel at an equivalent or higher level within the company. • Maintains knowledge of law in the area of practice and proactively identifies issues of concern for the company. • Monitors and analyzes impact of pending and existing laws and regulations relevant to the assigned business area and communicates impact to the business teams. • Reviews contracts for Human Resources, including those related to staffing and employee benefits. • This job profile is not meant to be all inclusive of the responsibilities of this position; may perform other duties as assigned or required.
