Title: Corporate Compliance, Supplier Quality & Regulatory Affairs Engineer

Reports to: Director, Global Quality Assurance

Job Purpose

The Corporate Compliance & Quality Engineer is responsible for building, supporting and maintaining the organization's global product compliance, supplier quality, food contact compliance, technical file, and regulatory governance programs. This role serves as the corporate subject matter expert for regulatory, environmental, sustainability, certification, and compliance requirements, ensuring products, materials, packaging, suppliers, technical documentation, third-party test evidence, declarations of compliance, manufacturing processes, and management systems comply with applicable legal, customer, industry, and corporate requirements in various Global Markets where products are designed, sourced, manufactured, distributed, and sold. The position strengthens the Integrated Management System (IMS) by converting regulatory, customer, retailer, supplier, sustainability, and certification requirements into controlled processes, practical requirements, risk assessments, audits, supplier expectations, and documented evidence. The role supports early identification of compliance requirements during New Product Introduction (NPI), product changes, supplier onboarding, and market expansion activities. The role works closely with Quality, Product Development & Technology (Engineering Teams), Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sustainability, and Compliance & Regulatory stakeholders to proactively identify compliance risks, own technical file governance, maintain certifications, and ensure ongoing conformity to applicable regulations and standards and market-access documentation.

Key Job Functions

1. Regulatory Compliance Management

• Work in conjunction with the organization's regulatory compliance program, and lead from an integrated management systems perspective to ensure adherence to applicable laws, standards, product regulations, and customer requirements.
• Serve as corporate regulatory intelligence lead by monitoring, evaluating, and communicating emerging standards and legislative changes impacting products, materials, environmental, packaging, chemical, sustainability, manufacturing, supply-chain and distribution regulations.
• Interpret regulatory requirements and provide guidance to Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Product Management, and Quality teams.
• Conduct regulatory compliance gap assessments and risk assessment evaluations.
• Maintain the corporate compliance obligations register and regulatory compliance database.
• Develop and maintain compliance procedures, governance processes, and work instructions.

2. Chemical, Material & Environmental Compliance

• Act as the corporate lead for material and substance compliance programs.
• Manage supplier material declaration programs and regulatory disclosure requirements.
• Coordinate customer compliance declarations and regulatory reporting submissions.
• Conduct material composition reviews and product substance assessments.
• Support environmental stewardship, sustainability reporting, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

3. Food Contact Material Compliance

• Act as corporate lead for global food contact material regulations and declarations of compliance. Examples of products include Cast Iron cookware, Pizza stones, Grill Accessories, Food Contact Coatings, SS accessories, Ceramic Products.
• Maintain compliance programs for metal, enamel, ceramic, cast iron, aluminum, coatings, plastics, silicone, and other food-contact materials.
• Coordinate testing, supplier declarations, lab submissions, and regulatory assessments.
• Manage compliance against FDA, LFGB, EU Framework Regulation 1935/2004, GMP Regulation 2023/2006, Swiss Ordinance requirements, UK food contact requirements, and other applicable market regulations.
• Ensure technical documentation is maintained to support customer, retailer, and regulatory requests.

4. Product Compliance, Certification & Lifecyle Assurance

• Support product certification activities and ongoing surveillance requirements.
• Coordinate product listings, registrations, declarations of conformity, and certification renewals.
• Support regulatory agencies, auditors, inspectors, and certification bodies during compliance reviews and investigations.
• Ensure compliance of product labels, markings, technical documentation, manuals, and marketing claims.
• Support global market access requirements for Canada, the United States, Europe, and other applicable regions.
• Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) gates to ensure compliance requirements are identified and incorporated during concept, design, validation, and launch phases.
• Define regulatory testing, certification, declaration, and documentation requirements for new products and product changes.

4. Risk Management & Corrective Actions

• Lead regulatory, quality, supplier, and operational compliance risk assessments.
• Identify compliance vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead investigations related to regulatory nonconformances, certification findings, audit observations, customer complaints, and compliance incidents.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.
• Verify effectiveness of implemented corrective actions.

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Global Compliance Supplier Quality Manual.

• Support supplier audits and corrective action initiatives.
• Coordinate customer compliance requests, technical documentation, declarations, and reporting requirements.
• Ensure supplier compliance with sustainability and regulatory requirements.

6. Compliance Auditing & Product Technical Files

• Plan, conduct, and report internal compliance and management system audits.
• Support external, regulatory, certification, supplier, and customer audits.
• Monitor audit findings and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Analyze audit trends and identify opportunities for systemic improvement.
• Establish and maintain product compliance technical files for all regulated product categories.
• Verify completeness of declarations of conformity, declarations of compliance, test reports, risk assessments, supplier documentation, traceability records, and labeling documentation.
• Ensure technical documentation remains current throughout the product lifecycle.

7. Training, Reporting, Dashboards & Continuous Improvement

• Drive CI initiatives focused on compliance effectiveness and risk reduction.
• Develop compliance and quality KPI dashboards and performance metrics.
• Prepare management review materials and executive reports.
• Analyze compliance and quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and deliver training related to regulatory requirements, certifications, compliance obligations, and management systems.
• Promote awareness of evolving regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
• Support departments in implementing new compliance requirements and regulatory changes.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience / Education Required

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering in fields of Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Quality Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Food Science or a related technical discipline.

Minimum Years of Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Product Compliance, Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Quality Systems, or Regulatory Affairs. Experience managing regulatory compliance programs and compliance risk assessments. Experience working within ISO-based management systems. Experience interacting with certification organizations, auditors, and regulatory agencies. Experience conducting internal, supplier, customer, or regulatory audits.

Computer Software Requirement: Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project). Experience preparing data for third party assurance or audits. EPR systems and/or Microsoft F&O.
