Location: 2 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Ontario

Target Salary Range: $75-$90K

This range is reflective within the Market in which the job is posted.

Scope of Position

Reporting to the Director, Communications, this position plays a critical role in supporting communications activities across the organization for both internal and external audiences.

The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, passion and a commitment to excellence to the role. They will apply their advanced writing skills and communications expertise in the execution of multi-channel communication activities.

Major Responsibilities

This role will support the Director, Communications and the Marketing & Communications department to:

  • Create and manage content for external and internal communications and publications, including, but not limited to, employee newsletters, speeches, talking points, print collateral, direct mail, email marketing campaigns, digital ad copy, web content, media releases, PowerPoint presentations, event support materials, etc.
  • Write, coordinate and execute program or campaign specific communications plans for internal and external audiences.
  • Build influential business relationships with senior leadership and internal partners in order to extract and communicate key messages to our employees and our members.
  • Liaise with external vendors who support PR and translation.
  • Support the execution of media relations and communications plans that raise awareness of Alterna in the public eye.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on the success of all corporate communications initiatives.
  • Field translation requests and manage departmental relationship with our translation service provider.
  • Act as ambassador for Alterna's brand through presentation of a professional image, diplomacy and the ability to champion corporate communications and marketing initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support change management methodologies and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related disciplines with a minimum of five years in a communications role of this level.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, plan, write and execute on external and internal communications projects.
  • Advanced writing skills: media releases, speeches, scripts, presentations, newsletters, ad copy as well as web and social media content.
  • Experience in project managing communications streams on complex implementations and programs.
  • Proven ability to edit content into text that is clear, consistent and easy to understand.
  • Professional and responsible in dealing with senior level decision makers.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and juggle various communications initiatives.
  • Experience working in financial services is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is a strong asset.
  • High level of proficiency in all MS Office suite products
