Position Purpose:The primary function of the Corporate Claims Manager is to manage assigned Property, General Liability, Auto Liability, and Workers Compensation claims across the United States and Canada.
Key Responsibilities:- Comprehensive Claims Oversight
- Lead local post-accident investigations.
- Oversee third-party claims administrator (TPA) to ensure proper claim handling strategies are being adhered to and service instructions followed.
- Review and approve reserve change or payment requests based on necessity and appropriateness; make settlement recommendations.
- Communicate timely financial impacts of claims-related expenses to local leadership and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Manage local counsel retained to defend GMS and subsidiaries involved in lawsuits.
- Represent the company in cases involving mediation, arbitration, and trial.
- Collaborate with primary, umbrella and excess insurance carrier(s) on settlements that may go above our deductible.
- Participate in quarterly large-claim reviews for the executive leadership team, providing strategic insights and recommendations.
- Partner with internal safety professionals to identify subsidiaries, divisions, or locations that may require additional training or intervention.
- Assist in producing a quarterly Litigation Report for communication of claim status.
- Manage vendor relationships with key partners to drive positive outcomes within the claims process (i.e. private investigators, nurse case management, reconstructionists, trial experts, etc.)
- Data Management and Analysis
- Ensure data is transmitted timely and accurately between TPA, Risk Management Information Systems, internal partners and actuaries.
- Under a large deductible program, collaborates with Accounting & Finance for proper allocation of claim costs down to the yard level
- Assist Analysts with producing meaningful metrics to measure risk management performance across the company.
- Addresses inquiries from the field pertaining claim status or financial information.

Travel Requirements:Physical Requirements- Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 80% of the time.
- Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
- Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Working Conditions- Working in an office environment majority of the time.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of related work experience in claims administration and handling
- Exceptional Microsoft office skills
- Strong understanding of Property & Casualty claims handling with multi-jurisdictional expertise across North America and Canada
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of claims with a sense of urgency
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
