Responsibilities

Mintz is seeking a corporate associate with a focus in debt financing to join our team in Toronto. Candidates should have some experience with a variety of financing structures, including senior secured financing, mezzanine financing, acquisition financing, syndicated financing, construction financing, and real estate financing for Schedule I banks and other institutional lenders, private credit funds, borrowers, developers and private equity sponsors.

Collaboration with team members is an important component of any role at Mintz. Therefore, the firm encourages working from the office approximately 60% of the time in accordance with the firm's published guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Canadian law degree (JD or LLB)
  • A license to practice in the Province of Ontario with 2+ years of practice experience
  • Debt finance experience is required and prior experience with real estate security is an asset
  • Experience drafting and negotiating security agreements, guarantees, debentures and other types of loan and security documents
  • Technology-forward approach to legal practice with hands-on, daily proficiency with legal AI tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Professionalism in working and engaging with clients and colleagues
