Position Reporting To - Title:

Site Manager

The Coordinator, Health and Safety, supports sites and regional offices by ensuring compliance with corporate and industrial health and safety frameworks, and ensures that staff follow established health and safety policies and procedures. The incumbent promotes and coordinates health and safety efforts with multiple stakeholders (e.g. construction coordinators), audits contractor health and safety plans, and investigates health and safety incidents.

Primary
  • Act as a site resource on health and safety policy and legislation
  • Promote and coordinate health and safety efforts with multiple stakeholders
  • Update contract documents to include appropriate safety requirements
  • Review contractor safety submissions
  • Conduct safety inspections of project sites and complete monitoring documentation
  • Collaborate and share best practices
  • Prepare, coordinate and chair monthly staff safety meetings
  • Support corporate health and safety requirements
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders
  • Manage risk

Other
  • Act as a regional resource in support of health and safety management.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, and meet all associated reporting requirements
  • Maintain relationships with provincial and federal regulatory authorities
  • Organize, present and/or participate in health and safety training and development
  • Other duties as assigned

Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience
  • Minimum: college diploma in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene or related field with two years' relevant experience, or the equivalent
  • Preferred: related industry designation (e.g. Canadian Registered Safety Professional)

Abilities
  • Use applicable computer software and operating systems
  • Apply risk management techniques

Development and Leadership
  • Provide functional advice and guidance to employees

Working Conditions
  • Typical construction site environment; incumbent is required to wear basic safety equipment
  • Some work may be in a typical office environment with occasional travel
