Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Coordinator, Artificial Intelligence.

Under the direction of an assigned administrator, the Coordinator, Artificial Intelligence (AI) leads the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of the San Diego County Office of Education's (SDCOE) countywide AI strategy and engagement initiatives, promoting the ethical, equitable, transparent, and effective adoption of artificial intelligence in K-12 education and serves as the primary liaison among SDCOE staff, school districts, charter schools, students, families, community organizations, and external partners; coordinates the SDCOE North Star AI Task Force and related working groups to advance organizational AI strategy, policy, and governance; and designs and delivers professional learning, outreach events, and communication resources that build AI literacy and trust across San Diego County.

Because AI policy continues to evolve at every level, the Coordinator, Artificial Intelligence (AI), stays closely informed about state, federal, and national laws and guidance. By monitoring developments from agencies such as the California Department of Education and U.S. Department of Education, the Coordinator helps ensure that SDCOE and its districts have access to the most current and reliable information.

The current assignment is located in San Diego, CA as part of the Integrated Technology Services department in the Integrated Technology Services division within SDCOE.

Please note that while this current assignment is for the location listed, employees of SDCOE may be administratively reassigned to other locations based on organizational needs.

Applications will be reviewed, and candidates whose qualifications most closely match the classification requirements will be invited to participate in a competitive examination process. The examination process may consist of one or more of the following examination components: a multiple-choice examination, an oral examination, a written examination, a practical demonstration, a performance examination, and/or a technical evaluation of the application.

The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is terminated.
