Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Technical Services, the Control Systems Manager serves as the organization's strategic leader for Building Automation Systems and control-related initiatives. This role provides technical leadership, project oversight, stakeholder coordination, controls governance, and customer-facing support across Service, Engineering, Product Management, and Operations.

The successful candidate will leverage extensive industry experience to support project delivery, review controls strategies and sequences of operation, coordinate with consultants, contractors, owners, and engineering teams, and establish standards that align with customer expectations and industry best practices.

This position is intended to develop and lead the organization's controls strategy and is the planned succession path for future controls team leadership and department growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain organizational controls strategy and standards.
  • Provide oversight for BAS implementation across projects and service activities.
  • Establish controls governance, standard sequences, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with consulting engineers, contractors, project managers, commissioning agents, and owner representatives.
  • Review project requirements and negotiate controls-related scope, strategy, and sequence implementation.
  • Represent Systemair in technical discussions involving controls architecture and building automation requirements.
  • Understand how customers, facility operators, and building owners utilize BAS systems.
  • Identify customer operational needs and translate them into practical controls solutions.
  • Support product development and integration initiatives through real-world BAS experience.
  • Review BAS designs, sequences of operation, and integration approaches.
  • Provide technical direction to internal and external controls resources.
  • Ensure consistency and maintainability of controls solutions.
  • Support strategic controls opportunities.
  • Assist with controls-related customer presentations and technical reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for future controls service offerings.


Skills, Education, and/or Experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years of Building Automation Systems experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a customer-facing project management, systems integration, technical leadership, or controls management role.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating consultants, contractors, engineering teams, general contractors, and owner representatives.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating sequences of operation, controls specifications, commissioning requirements, and project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and institutional HVAC systems and building operations.


Job Conditions

Physical Demands:
  • Moderate physical effort - able to lift up to 10lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting as a desk and looking at a computer.

Work Environment:
  • Factory, Warehouse, Distribution Center, Office.
  • May be exposed to loud, repetitive sounds from machinery or equipment.
  • Remote travel up to 25% in North America.
