Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controls & Software Engineer Specialist to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems and software solutions supporting engineered industrial products and automation systems. This role serves as a technical leader responsible for developing innovative controls architectures, mentoring engineering teams, and collaborating with customers and stakeholders across domestic and international locations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation, software development, PLC programming, and systems integration, coupled with proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex global projects. This individual will serve as a key technical resource for customers, manufacturing operations, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership for controls and software engineering initiatives across multiple projects.
  • Mentor and develop engineers while establishing engineering best practices and technical standards.
  • Lead design reviews, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive innovation and technology adoption within automation, controls, and software development.

Controls & Software Development

  • Design and develop control system architectures for industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Develop, program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, and motion control systems.
  • Create software applications, interfaces, diagnostics, and monitoring solutions for industrial equipment.
  • Develop control algorithms and automation strategies to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Integrate sensors, instrumentation, drives, actuators, and communication networks into complete system solutions.

Project & Customer Support

  • Lead technical discussions with customers to define requirements and develop customized solutions.
  • Support product development activities from concept through deployment and field implementation.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Test, and Systems Engineering teams.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts with global teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide technical support during product testing, commissioning, installation, and troubleshooting.

Global Collaboration

  • Serve as a primary technical interface for domestic and international engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with global customers, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and business partners.
  • Support global product development and standardization initiatives.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer needs and project execution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, software development, or systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, technical projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with domestic and international teams, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Extensive experience with PLC programming platforms such as:
    • Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation)
    • Siemens
    • Beckhoff
    • Schneider Electric
  • Experience with HMI, SCADA, and industrial communication networks including:
    • EtherNet/IP
    • Profinet
    • Modbus
    • OPC-UA
  • Strong software development experience using one or more of the following:
    • C/C++
    • C#
    • Python
    • LabVIEW
    • MATLAB
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, seals, bearings, or other engineered industrial products.
  • Experience in industries such as:

  • Knowledge of machine safety and functional safety standards.
