Full Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a Controls & Panel Engineer to join our Panel Engineering team at our panel facility in Girard, Ohio. This role owns the order-to-ship cycle for Altronic control systems, from control system design and programming through documentation, testing, and production support.

You will design control panels and the control systems that run them, including PLC programming and scripting, for equipment used primarily in the Oil and Gas industry as well as growing industrial markets.

Your work directly affects whether a panel ships with a working program and runs the first time in the field, with no factory help needed to commission it.

Key Responsibilities
• Design and program control systems, including PLC programming and scripting of Altronic and
third-party products.
• Develop and maintain the Sequence of Operations (SOO) and test procedures for each control
system.
• Engineer control panels with emphasis on functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Create detailed CAD drawings, including electrical schematics and panel layouts.
• Specify electrical components and materials, and enter Bills of Materials (BOMs) into the MRP
system (SAP).
• Perform software testing using a lab-based test setup before the panel ships.
• Coordinate with purchasing, sales, panel production, QC, and new product engineering.
• Support customers by resolving technical questions and sharing project status updates.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and quality through to successful delivery.
Note: Occasional travel for on-site support may be required, though this is rare.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical and/or Controls Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience in controls or panel engineering.
• Experience designing control panels and control systems for industrial applications.
• Experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Strong knowledge of control systems, automation, and instrumentation.
• Solid grasp of electrical theory and components.
• Proficient in AutoCAD for drafting electrical schematics and panel layouts.
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes for control panel design.
• Comfortable using test equipment (multimeters, power supplies, 4-20 mA signal simulators).
• Self-directed team player with strong communication skills, trusted to own projects and make
decisions without being micromanaged.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Additional Preferred Qualifications
• Proficiency in Lua or similar scripting/programming languages.
• Experience with communication protocols like Ethernet, Modbus, and/or CAN.
• Ability to quickly learn the Altronic product line on the job.

Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package and full benefits including:
• Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
• Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
• Short- & Long-Term Disability
• Life Insurance
• Paid Time Off: Vacation, Holidays, Sick Leave, Parental Leave
• Tuition Reimbursement
• 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match
