Full Job Description
Workplace: On-site, 5 days per week
Location: Marina, CA
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support a manufacturing data integration project. The engineer will be responsible for connecting a set of Ingersoll Rand automatic torque tools into the client's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) via the Ignition SCADA platform. The target data flow is: IR Torque Gun 12 Ignition (TCP/OPC) 12 MES.
Key Job Responsibilities
06 Configure and integrate Ingersoll Rand torque tool data outputs into Ignition SCADA via TCP/OPC, ensuring reliable downstream flow into the MES
06 Develop and maintain Ignition tags, OPC connections, and database transactions required to capture torque data (values, timestamps, tool IDs, operator IDs, part traceability) from production tools
06 Work alongside the client's internal controls engineering team to replicate proven IR-to-Ignition-to-MES integration methodologies across multiple tool stations
06 Troubleshoot communication between Ingersoll Rand torque controllers and the Ignition SCADA layer (TCP/OPC handshakes, tag mapping, data latency)
06 Validate data integrity end to end, from tool output through SCADA to MES storage
06 Document configurations, network architecture, and integration steps for ongoing maintenance and scalability
06 Support commissioning and on-floor testing within the manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
06 Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical field
06 3+ years of hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation), including tag configuration, scripting (Jython/Python), and database integration
06 Direct experience integrating shop floor devices with MES systems via TCP/OPC
06 Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC UA/DA, TCP/IP, MQTT, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP)
06 Experience with SQL databases for transactional data logging
06 Comfortable working onsite in an active manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
06 Hands-on experience with Ingersoll Rand automatic torque tools (INSIGHTqc, IC-D controllers, or comparable IR platforms) and their data output interfaces
06 Prior experience integrating DC/automatic torque tools into SCADA or MES systems
06 Exposure to aerospace, EV, or other regulated manufacturing environments where torque traceability is critical
06 Familiarity with MES platforms (Apriso, iBase-t, Solumina, or comparable)
06 Experience with Ignition Perspective or Vision module for HMI development
06 Understanding of part genealogy and production traceability requirements
Salary Range
06 $120,000-$145,000
06 The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
