Controller
Yarde Metals, Inc. - Southington, CT


Position Summary

Yarde Metals is seeking an experienced Controller to join our corporate office in Southington, CT. This role is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day leadership of all accounting and financial operations, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit/collections. The Controller ensures financial integrity through accurate reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
  • Lead daily financial operations and ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all processes.
  • Produce timely, accurate, and compliant records of transactions by implementing appropriate internal controls, policies, procedures, and audits across all departments for leadership and the parent company.
  • Manage and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Direct month-end close activities, including reconciliations, allocations, and reporting.
  • Create accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial records to our Parent company and management team.
  • Develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to support business decisions related to sales, operations, and expenses.
  • Partner with executive leadership in sales, operations, and purchasing to evaluate performance and drive business outcomes.
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Collaborate with IT to optimize ERP systems and resolve system-related issues.
  • Lead audit preparation and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Oversee lease accounting and compliance for real property and equipment leases.
  • Support capital expenditure (CapEx) planning and financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead accounting staff, including performance management and coaching.
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.


Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience as an accounting lead, manager, or controller.
  • Experience in manufacturing or metals service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing a team of 4 or more.
  • Advanced Excel and quantitative analysis skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team development skills.
