Specific Job Requirements

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements and communicate results to plant and corporate leadership.
  • Coordinate monthly earnings forecasts and financial re-projections.
  • Analyze budget variances and develop corrective action recommendations.
  • Support long-range financial planning initiatives.
  • Provide cost-saving recommendations and operational improvement opportunities.


Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Analysis

  • Oversee all plant cost accounting activities.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, production efficiencies, labor utilization, and inventory performance.
  • Monitor raw material, maintenance, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Support inventory valuation and physical inventory processes.
  • Review product costing and manufacturing variances.


General Accounting

  • Oversee maintenance of the General Ledger.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E).
  • Maintain the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) tracking system.
  • Review depreciation and fixed asset accounting.
  • Ensure timely processing of insurance and property tax payments.
  • Prepare the Net Proceeds of Mines report and other required mining-related financial reports.


Cash Management & Leadership

  • Review and approve hourly and salaried payroll.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Review bank reconciliations and cash management activities.
  • Ensure appropriate safeguarding and control of company funds and negotiable instruments.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting department personnel.
  • Establish departmental objectives and performance expectations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching.
  • Ensure cross-training and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain effective internal controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate internal, external, corporate, and governmental audits.
  • Prepare and review governmental reports and tax-related filings.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to wear required PPE when entering production areas.


Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based within a manufacturing/mining facility.
  • Occasional exposure to industrial environments, including dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
  • Extended hours may be required during month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end reporting.
