Purpose

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance in all accounting and financial reporting activities. This role manages accounting functions, financial controls, reporting processes, and regulatory compliance to support executive decision-making and organizational performance. The Controller plays a critical role in maintaining financial discipline across high-value aviation programs and operational activities.

This position reports to the Director of Finance and partners with company leaders across the business to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations, embodying Citadel's ethos of trust, respect, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
  • Responsible for all site-specific accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and cost accounting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting packages.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Controls, Compliance & Audit
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
  • Support contract review, revenue recognition, and financial risk assessment processes.

Planning, Cost & Business Partnership
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with company leaders.
  • Monitor cash flow and financial performance metrics.
  • Ensure accurate cost accounting and program-level financial tracking for aircraft projects or service contracts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Supervise accounting staff and ensure proper training and performance management.

Requirements

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control principles.
  • Experience managing accounting operations in a manufacturing, aerospace, aviation, or project-based environment.

Preferred
  • Experience in aviation, aerospace, MRO, or completions industry.
  • Knowledge of project-based accounting and revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience working in private equity-backed or high-growth environments.

Working Conditions
  • This position is considered OFFICE WORK, performed almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace; work surface is stable (flat).
  • Considered LIGHT work with frequent lifting up to 20 lbs; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching, with repetitive movements of arms and hands and seated work with back supported.
  • May require extended hours during month-end close, audit periods, or budgeting cycles.
  • High level of confidentiality and professional conduct required.
