Controller

Description

Position Overview: The Property Controller oversees financial operations and business performance for two marinas and is based full-time in Jamestown, RI. This role combines strong accounting and business analysis with hands-on partnership across property teams. The successful candidate will turn financial insights into actions that improve results, strengthen controls, and deliver an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead accurate, timely financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for both locations.
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and key performance indicators; identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Translate financial and operating data into clear recommendations that support profitable growth and informed decision-making.
  • Partner with property leaders and cross-functional teams to set goals, track progress, and improve business performance.
  • Support pricing, occupancy, and other operational initiatives with sound financial analysis.
  • Help ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience by connecting operational decisions and financial outcomes.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting requirements.
  • Improve financial processes, reporting tools, and data quality across both locations.
  • Communicate results and recommendations clearly to leaders and stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong accounting fundamentals and experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliations. At least 6 years of accounting experience with solid knowledge of GAAP accounting.
  • Demonstrated business analysis skills, including interpreting performance data and developing actionable recommendations.
  • Experience partnering with operational leaders and influencing data driven decisions without relying on formal authority.
  • Strong customer and service orientation, with an understanding of how business decisions affect customer experience.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, spreadsheets, and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; able to manage priorities across two locations.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and a results-focused approach with a bias toward action.
