Full Job Description
Controller

Savanna Drilling Canada

Oversee the preparation of financial and management reports, coordinating budget and financial records, managing treasury and overseeing administration of credit policy. The Controller will collaborate with Operations to provide timely and accurate financial information to divisional and corporate management, including financial and business analysis and other financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Closely collaborate with Operations to ensure accurate, complete and timely financial statements and reporting packages
  • Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages and other reports as required
  • Manage accounting operations (journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, job costing, reporting)
  • Hire, train, mentor and lead the local accounting team
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with customers and suppliers, their accounting departments
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and documentation relating to financial policies, processes and procedures and ensure compliance with relevant corporate policies
  • Establish processes and controls to detect and anticipate potential issues and work with relevant stakeholders to prevent and resolve issues, as required
  • Manage the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Analyze and report on variances to budget and other analysis, as required
  • Establish and manage execution of local accounting department priorities
  • Oversee preparation and filing of sales tax, payroll and other regulatory taxes and filings
  • Collaborate with management to define, assess, implement and improve controls and processes
  • Manage treasury function
  • Oversee and ensure collection of accounts receivable
  • Oversee day to day banking
  • Other duties as may be reasonable directed from time to time


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of financial management, accounting principles and internal controls
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel, Dynamics SL would be an asset
  • Proven and effective management skills and experience, with the demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a team
  • Self-motivated team player requiring little supervision who possesses confidence, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills, seeks answers and solutions
  • Focused on providing exceptional internal and external customer service
  • Ability to recognize and communicate efficiency opportunities and implement new processes


Education and Experience
  • CPA designation or currently enrolled in an accounting designation program is an asset
  • Undergraduate degree with a focus on business, finance/accounting
  • 3 to 5 years of recent experience working in a similar role
  • Oilfield services experience preferred
