Job Summary

The Controller partners closely with the CFO and business leaders by providing a strong accounting foundation for business decisions, with responsibility for accounting operations, controls, systems, compliance, financial reporting, and people leadership. This player-coach combines strong accounting discipline with an entrepreneurial mindset, bringing structure where it adds value while remaining resourceful, pragmatic, creative, and open to new tools, including automation and AI, that improve accuracy, efficiency, and insight.

The role leads and develops the accounting team, strengthens cross-functional processes and controls, owns NetSuite/Crafted functionality for Finance, and coordinates external financial review, tax support, and accounting-related compliance.

Accountability Chart
  • LMA: Lead, Manage, and Hold Accountable the Accounting Team: Develop team capability, establish clear expectations, and drive performance while fostering accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Own Accounting Integrity and Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely financial statements, fiscal period close, accounting policies, balance sheet integrity, and financial reporting.
  • Own Accounting Systems, Controls, and Operational Excellence: Lead accounting systems, internal controls, automation, and process improvements that support efficient and scalable operations.
  • Enable Business Decision-Making Through Financial Stewardship: Provide reliable accounting information and financial discipline that support informed business decisions.
  • Ensure Accounting Compliance and External Partnership Management: Coordinate external financial review, tax support, and accounting-related compliance requirements while maintaining effective relationships with external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and act in a manner consistent with the company's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Lead, manage, and develop accounting team members through hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, cross-training, and professional development
  • Own fiscal period and year-end close, financial statements, accounting policies, general ledger management, and balance sheet integrity
  • Lead cross-functional accounting processes and establish clear ownership, controls, and accountability from source transaction through financial reporting
  • Strengthen accounting systems, workflows, internal controls, automation, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Serve as Finance functional owner for NetSuite/Crafted, ensuring system effectiveness, reporting accuracy, data integrity, and user adoption
  • Coordinate external financial review, tax support, and accounting-related compliance requirements
  • Provide financial discipline, accounting expertise, and operational leadership that support informed business decisions and organizational success

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and fiscal period close; leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, balance sheet accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls
  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems with demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes through reporting, workflows, data integrity, and automation; NetSuite experience preferred
  • Demonstrated player-coach leadership and entrepreneurial mindset-setting high standards, developing people, remaining hands-on when needed, working resourcefully through constraints, and bringing practical solutions
  • Strong communication, judgment, organization, and cross-functional partnership skills

Work Environment
