The role combines hands-on financial control with leadership in business planning, operational analysis and system improvements. The incumbent provides direction to the finance team and collaborates closely with projects and senior management to support organizational growth and sound financial governance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Strategy
• Partner with the VP of Finance and Legal to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with corporate goals.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic initiatives.
• Lead financial planning processes, including annual budgeting, forecasting and long range modeling.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with ASPE, internal policies and external audit requirements.
• Manage all general ledger activities, reconciliations and financial close processes.
• Coordinate annual external audits and act as primary liaison with auditors.
• Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures and documentation.
Internal Controls & Governance
• Design, implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies.
• Ensure compliance with approval processes, segregation of duties and governance standards.
• Support continues improvement in financial risk management and reporting integrity.
Process Automation
Identify opportunities to automate core accounting processes (e.g., reconciliations, journal entries, reporting cycles) as well as
implement tools and workflows that reduce manual intervention and improve cycle times.
Financial Systems Optimization
Oversee the effective use and continuous improvement of financial systems (ERP, reporting tools, dashboards).
Partner with IT and business leaders to enhance system functionality and integration.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis
• Lead organization wide budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with department leaders.
• Monitor performance against plan and provide variance analysis and recommendations.
• Identify cost efficiencies, financial risk and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide clear financial dashboards and reports to management and the VP Finance and Legal.
Operational & Systems Leadership
• Oversee financial systems (ERP and reporting tools) and ensure data integrity.
• Drive automation and process enhancements to increase efficiency and reporting quality.
• Collaborate with operational departments and IT on system integration and optimization.
• Digitalization creation
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Support professional development, including mentorship and staff advancement.
• Ensure clear objectives, accountability and continuous learning within the finance function.
