  • Assist the Facility CFO in driving financial performance

  • Oversee month-end close processes and financial reporting
  • Coordinate budget, compliance, and audit work under CFO direction
  • Monitor general ledger reconciliations and ensure accuracy

Job Summary and Qualifications

Assists the Facility CFO with driving the financial performance of the organization and managing all aspects of financial operations.

Supervises the Assistant Controller, Financial Analyst, and other accounting staff. Selects, trains, and evaluates performance of accounting personnel to ensure quality of service and technical expertise.

Organizes functions of the department through the assignment of responsibilities and monitors those activities to ensure completion of work in specified timeframes according to Facility, Division or Corporate policies.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages open communication within the department and with other department leaders and hospital management. Provides financial education and training to directors and managers.

Oversees the timely completion of month end close for the hospital and its related COID's. Assists with completion of SMA, Medicare, and other month-end close entries as assigned. Coordinates the completion of Monthly Operating Review comments for Division post-close.

Assists with completion of budget, cost report workpapers, state reports, all audit and compliance reviews, and ad hoc reporting under the direction of the CFO.

Assists with monthly projections as required by Division and Corporate.

Performs ad hoc research and analysis projects to support facility strategic objectives. Assists with the preparation of financial proformas as needed.

Monitors to timely completion of accurate reconciliations of general ledger accounts and follows up on any reconciling items. Oversees completion of monthly Balance Sheet Review Guide and Financial Attestation.

Ensures the hospital's internal controls are sound and all Sarbanes Oxley 404 and internal controls documentation is completed. Ensures hospital follows all HCA Accounting Policy Guidance.

Monitors fixed asset activity to ensure capital expenditures are within budgeted allocations and receive required approvals.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance - Required

Masters of Business Administration in Accounting or Finance and/or Certified Public Accountant - Preferred

3 Years experience as an Accountant in a Hospital setting or 3 years experience as a Senior Accountant - Required

Years accounting experience in a Hospital setting with 1-2 year experience supervising accountants preferably in a hospital setting - Preferred
