Full Job Description
Position Summary

Ethic Tech, LLC is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for Ethic Tech and its affiliated entities. The Controller will serve as the company's senior accounting leader and will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial operations, financial reporting, internal controls, government contract accounting, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance across a multi-entity federal government contracting organization.

The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while providing financial analysis and guidance to executive leadership. This position requires extensive federal government contracting experience and the ability to operate at both a leadership and hands-on level, including oversight of month-end and year-end close, indirect rates, cash management, budgeting and forecasting, government contract compliance, and financial systems.

The ideal candidate must be an experienced GovCon financial professional capable of assuming responsibility for the accounting function with minimal ramp-up and providing continuity during a planned leadership transition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Direct and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and financial close processes.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and other accounting transactions.
  • Oversee annual financial statement audits, tax reporting, and other external financial reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data across multiple affiliated entities.


Multi-Entity Financial Management
  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for Ethic Tech and affiliated entities.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, reconciliations, and eliminations.
  • Ensure consistent accounting practices and financial controls across affiliated companies.
  • Support consolidated financial reporting and analysis.
  • Coordinate shared accounting and financial services across entities.
  • Ensure appropriate segregation and allocation of costs among legal entities, contracts, and cost objectives.


Government Contract Accounting & Compliance
  • Maintain accounting practices and systems that comply with federal government contracting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAR, DFARS, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and DCAA requirements.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze indirect cost pools and rates.
  • Prepare and support incurred cost submissions and other government-required financial reporting.
  • Maintain audit readiness and coordinate financial support for DCAA, DCMA, SBA, external auditor, and customer reviews.
  • Ensure proper accounting treatment for cost-reimbursable, fixed-price, and time-and-materials contracts.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Contracts Management to ensure alignment among financial, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support contract closeouts and financial reconciliations as required.


Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead or support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts and identify significant variances.
  • Prepare financial analyses, forecasts, and management reports to support executive decision-making.
  • Monitor revenue, margins, indirect rates, and other key financial performance indicators.
  • Provide financial insight regarding operating performance and emerging financial risks.


Program Control
  • Provide financial oversight and support for program control activities.
  • Monitor contract funding, expenditures, labor utilization, revenue, backlog, burn rates, and profitability.
  • Ensure accurate project financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Partner with Program Managers and Operations leadership to identify financial risks and address performance issues.
  • Support contract funding management and financial analysis throughout the contract lifecycle.


Pricing & Proposal Support
  • Provide financial and accounting support for pricing and proposal activities.
  • Develop and validate indirect rates, labor cost assumptions, escalation factors, and other financial inputs used in pricing.
  • Review cost models and pricing assumptions for consistency with accounting practices and financial objectives.
  • Collaborate with Pricing, Business Development, Capture, Proposal, Compliance, and Contracts teams on bids, task orders, and contract modifications.


Treasury & Cash Management
  • Monitor company cash flow, liquidity, and working capital requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts.
  • Oversee banking activities and maintain banking relationships.
  • Monitor accounts receivable collections and cash requirements.
  • Support management of lines of credit, debt obligations, and other financing arrangements.
  • Ensure adequate liquidity to support ongoing operations.


Internal Controls & Risk Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify financial, accounting, compliance, and operational risks within areas of responsibility.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and financial authorization controls.
  • Support business continuity and financial risk management initiatives.


Systems & Process Improvement
  • Oversee the effective use of accounting, ERP, payroll, timekeeping, and financial reporting systems.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting and financial processes.
  • Ensure systems and processes support government contracting requirements and organizational growth.
  • Maintain accurate financial data and reporting across systems.
  • Support system implementations, integrations, and process improvements as needed.


Team Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting and finance personnel.
  • Establish departmental priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Evaluate staffing and organizational needs within the accounting function.
  • Develop scalable processes to support company growth and increasing organizational complexity.
  • Promote accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a federal government contracting environment required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full accounting cycle and financial reporting function.
  • Experience managing financial operations across multiple legal entities, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or affiliated organizations.
  • Extensive experience with government contract accounting, indirect rates, and DCAA requirements.
  • Experience supporting DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and government contract compliance activities.
  • Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS, GAAP, and applicable government contracting requirements.
  • Experience with cost-reimbursable, fixed-price, and time-and-materials contracts.
  • Experience with government contractor accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis capabilities.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with Tribal organizations, SBA programs, joint ventures, or multi-entity corporate structures.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or rapid organizational growth.
  • Experience leading accounting operations within a growing federal government contracting organization.


Work Environment

This position is based at Ethic Tech's corporate headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama, and is an onsite position. Regular and consistent onsite presence is required to provide leadership and oversight of accounting and financial operations, support collaboration with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, and effectively manage the responsibilities of the position.

Periodic travel may be required to support company operations, audits, customer engagements, and leadership meetings.
