Position: Controller

Reports to: Corporate Controller

Location: Newberg, Oregon

JOB SUMMARY

The Controller is a key member of the Finance & Accounting leadership team and is responsible for managing accounting operations for the Newberg plant, with a primary focus on accounting and closing, consolidation, financial reporting, and audit support. This position manages the month-end closing process, prepares financial statements and operational reports, analyzes financial results and variances, and provides financial insight and consultation to management and departmental leaders to support sound business decisions. The Controller ensures accounting activities are performed in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable local statutory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting

  • Manage accounting operations for the Newberg plant
  • Manage the month-end closing process and ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for the site(s)
  • Ensure proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable local statutory requirements
  • Assist with global financial consolidations and related reporting activities
  • Support audits and provide information and assistance as needed


Financial Analysis and Business Support

  • Analyze financial results and variances and communicate explanations to management
  • Provide recommended actions based on financial and operational analysis
  • Provide proactive consultation, interpretation, and education regarding complex financial and operational matters
  • Partner with departmental leaders to provide financial information and insight used to support business decisions
  • Apply knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques, financial statement analysis, and financial projections to support business needs


Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple concurrent priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and clients
  • May be asked to travel domestically to site-specific events
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as CPA, preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques, financial statement analysis
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and solid understanding of IFRS accounting principles
  • Cost accounting experience
  • Experience supporting plant manufacturing operations in a global environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office and SAP and/or Syteline financial software
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and with clients
