Chapman Auto Group is seeking an experienced Controller to join the leadership team at our Egg Harbor Township dealership. This is a high-impact position for an accounting professional who enjoys partnering with dealership operations to drive financial performance and business success.

Working closely with the General Manager while reporting directly to the CFO and ownership, the Controller serves as a trusted business partner by providing financial leadership, operational insight, and accurate reporting to support sound business decisions.

This is a unique opportunity to transition into a well-established position through a structured leadership succession plan. You'll work alongside an experienced Controller during a comprehensive handoff, ensuring a smooth transition and long-term success in the role.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all dealership accounting operations, including month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversee accounting schedules, including inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable, floorplan, fixed assets, and F&I reserves.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with NADA and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Supervise and develop the accounting office while maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Partner with the General Manager and department leaders on budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and profitability.
  • Manage cash flow, payroll, commissions, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide timely financial reporting and analysis to the CFO and ownership.

Qualifications
  • Previous Automotive Controller or Assistant Controller experience.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership accounting and NADA accounting principles.
  • Ford dealership experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong dealership accounting experience from any franchise are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with dealership management systems (DealerBuilt experience is a plus).
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
