Controller, Behavioral Health FinanceThis role reports directly to the
Chief Financial Officer and functions as a key financial leader within the organization. The Controller is responsible for the integrity of LVF's accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls- partnering closely with senior leadership to support informed decision-making and long-term sustainability.
What You Bring- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree a plus)
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- Progressive accounting experience in a nonprofit setting
- Experience with audits, grants, and multi-funding-source compliance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles
- Proven ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
- Prior experience leading and mentoring accounting staff
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, with or without accommodations
Your RoleWe are looking for an accounting professional who wants to lead the core accounting function of a multi-program healthcare non-profit, applying behavioral health and healthcare financing expertise at an organizational level. You will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and balance technical accounting excellence with mission impact. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and oversight of all accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and long-range financial planning
- Support annual audits and act as a primary liaison with external auditors
- Oversee fiscal compliance related to government funding, grants, and contracts
- Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and controls to support organizational growth
- Lead and develop a professional accounting team, fostering collaboration and accountability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support program leadership with meaningful financial insight
