Full Job Description
The Role

This is a whole-function ownership role. You will run accounting and finance operations for the company end to end, report directly to the CEO, and sit close to the decisions your numbers inform. Aviture operates a mix of government contracts (cost reimbursable, T&M, and fixed price) and commercial engagements, so the role rewards someone who is fluent in government contract accounting and compliance but wants broader exposure than a large prime can offer.

You will inherit clean books, established systems (Procas and Paycor), and strong external partners for tax and audit. What we want you to add is forward visibility: sharper forecasting, project-level profitability insight, pricing support on new business, and automation that makes the close faster every quarter.
What You Will Own
Accounting operations. Monthly close, general ledger, financial statements, and bank reconciliations, with a bias toward shortening the close through automation.
Billing and revenue. Invoicing and collections across roughly ten active programs, many with multiple projects under one customer, spanning ACH and check receipts. Contract and modification setup in the accounting system and maintenance of the billing projection model.
Project accounting. Project setup, cost tracking, profitability analysis by program, and margin reporting that tells leadership what is about to happen, not just what did.
Budgeting and forecasting. Annual budget, rolling forecasts, cash management, and scenario analysis tied to backlog, re-competes, and pipeline.
Pricing and deal support. Rate structures, pricing input on proposals and fixed price bids, and financial support to the sales and capture teams during contract negotiation.
Government compliance. Quarterly GSA reporting, government contract compliance, and audit readiness. Incurred Cost Submission and Forward Pricing experience is valuable here.
Payroll and benefits coordination. Payroll processing and tax registrations and filings across multiple states, benefits administration coordination with our brokers and carriers, and quarterly bonus administration with leadership.
Tax and audit coordination. Primary point of contact for our external CPA firm on quarterly sales and use tax, income tax, R&D tax credit, and state incentive programs. Organize and lead responses for internal and external audits.
Banking. Maintain our banking relationship, including quarterly financial submissions and covenant reporting.
Controls and automation. Internal control policies, documented SOPs, and reporting automation. We would rather you build a script than a spreadsheet, and we will give you the tools to do it.

Requirements
What Makes You a Fit
• Seven or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including ownership of a monthly close and financial statements.
• Government contracting experience with cost reimbursable, T&M, and fixed price contract types. Working knowledge of FAR and DCAA expectations.
• Strong GAAP fluency, including revenue recognition for services (ASC 606).
• Experience in a professional services or engineering environment where labor is the product and utilization drives the economics.
• Hands-on ERP experience (Procas, Deltek, Unanet, or similar) and the ability to administer systems yourself rather than waiting on consultants.
• Comfort using AI tools and scripting to automate reporting and reconciliation work, or genuine motivation to build that skill quickly.
• The judgment to advise executives directly, disagree with data when the numbers say so, and hold the line on pricing and margin discipline.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Nice to Have
• Incurred Cost Submissions, Forward Pricing Rate Proposals, or direct DCAA and DCMA audit interaction.
• Experience supporting due diligence, an audit by an acquirer or investor, or other transaction readiness work.
• CPA or CMA.

Benefits
  • PPO or a High Deductible Health Plan, HSA eligible plan, Dental, Vision, and Supplemental Life.
  • Generous paid time off that starts accruing on day one.
  • Hybrid work environment with quarterly Castaway Week events in the Omaha HQ Office, all expenses paid, from across the country to participate in team-building, collaboration, and fun events.
  • Matching 401k with 100% vesting in six months.
  • Pick your preferred workstation! Mac? PC? We'll support you with the tech you need to do your best work.
  • Flexible work schedules: Work the times that fits your schedule, with all meetings required to be scheduled between 9 am and 3 pm CST.
  • Free lunch every Friday and recurring team events for you and your family to enjoy.
  • Incentive and bonus pay.
  • Opportunities for connection and growth through peer coaching, recurring Lightning Talks to share things we're passionate about, and a bi-weekly company-wide All Hands.
