Job Title: Controller
Job Description
This hands-on Controller role involves responsibility for percent-complete revenue recognition under ASC 606, leading manufacturing cost accounting, providing bid support, and establishing a financial partnership with the General Manager at a defense/aerospace manufacturing site.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with management to define and execute the global Finance and Accounting strategic plan to maximize the company's financial performance.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and internal processes.
  • Lead the accounting department and advise management on managerial accounting information.
  • Manage all accounting operations, monitoring costs and capital expenditures.
  • Direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
  • Develop business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure timely and complete financial statements and oversee the preparation of the corporate annual report.
  • Accurately report financial results according to GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Prepare reports summarizing and forecasting business activity and financial position.
  • Provide financial analyses for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Gather and analyze data for commercial pricing decisions and ensure competitive proposals.
  • Lead and direct a team of employees based on business needs.
  • Manage staff selection, performance, development, and training processes.

Qualifcations
  • Hands-on experience applying ASC 606 and a clear understanding of cost-to-cost revenue recognition.
  • Ability to explain ETC, revenue true-ups, and margin impact.
  • Expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, including job costing, overhead allocation, and variance analysis.
  • Exposure to government contracts and understanding of allowable vs non-allowable costs.

  • Operational partnership with GM and Ops, translating financials into plant-floor actions.
  • Bachelor's in Accounting strongly preferred; Finance degree acceptable with deep cost accounting
  • Defense or aerospace manufacturing, highly preferred
  • CPA certification, highly preferred

Work Environment
The team size includes three people across two locations: an AP/AR person and a accountant. The dress code is business casual. The standard hours are 8 AM to 5 PM onsite, with flexibility on the start time
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Los Alamitos, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
