Control Systems Engineer

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Control Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Application of a variety of control technologies, including AC/DC motion control, digital and analog systems, interactive operator / machine interface, data acquisition, PID and PLC control, systems integration, and systems commissioning in support of roofing granule manufacturing.
  • Management of several program formats specific to our location, including applicable change processes and procedures.
  • In-plant work and support of Plant Engineering crafts-persons for resolution of controls
  • issues and implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Coordination of work activities with local and remote Information Technology support
  • Coordination and support of capital project work activities with company Project Engineering Resources.
  • Active participation in plant Safety, Health, Environmental and Six Sigma Lean processes

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Five (5) years of experience with PLC programming, HMI development, industrial controls, and automation systems in a manufacturing, private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation
  • Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering or Systems Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and components
  • Demonstrated experience managing 3rd party contractors and vendors
  • Management of Change process management and compliance
  • Demonstrated success with developing and using Wonderware real-time operations management software in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated capability with Schneider Concept, Control Expert PLC programming, and ACP Thin Manager applications
  • Experience with Mining and Industrial Rock Processing Equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work location:

  • On-site Corona, CA

Travel: May include up to 10% Domestic
