Summary: The Contract Manager serves as a strategic subcontractor performance and contract-management resource focused on identifying emerging risks, monitoring key contractual actions, and supporting management of subcontractor relationships. This position provides targeted oversight of subcontractor performance, attends key project meetings, monitors relevant logs and reports for early warning indicators, and becomes involved in emerging subcontractor management matters as needed. The Contract Manager will work closely with Project Management, Construction, Procurement, and Legal to recommend actions that reduce contractual, operational, and financial risk and improve subcontractor management processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Establish and support subcontractor relationship and contract-management expectations.
- Participate in key project and subcontractor meetings to identify emerging performance, contractual, or recurring issues.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against schedules, milestones, deliverables, and other contractual expectations.
- Review key reports, logs, and open actions to identify potential performance or contractual risks.
- Provide targeted contract-management support for emerging or elevated subcontractor issues.
- Recommend practical action plans to address subcontractor performance and contract-management concerns.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding contractual actions, commitments, notices, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Legal on contractual issues, potential claims, disputes, and matters requiring legal interpretation.
- Maintain and organize documentation supporting contract-management issues and potential disputes.
- Recommend improvements to subcontractor-management processes, controls, and tracking practices.
Qualifications:Education/Experience- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Legal Studies, Supply Chain/Procurement, or a related field is required; equivalent directly related experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of construction contract management, subcontractor management, commercial management, project management, project controls, procurement, or related experience is required.
- Experience monitoring subcontractor performance and supporting contract-management issues on large-scale construction projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience with contract reviews, schedule and milestone monitoring, performance issues, change management, claims, dispute documentation, and subcontractor corrective-action planning is strongly preferred.
- Experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, industrial, data center, or other complex construction environments is highly preferred.
Language Proficiency- English proficiency is required, including the ability to read and interpret complex contracts and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus but is not required.
Additional Requirements- Must be able to travel to UIS locations locally as needed to perform assigned work functions.

- Indoor and/or outdoor work environments, which may include varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, or active job sites, depending on project requirements.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility vests.
- Interaction with powered industrial equipment, tools, and vehicles.
