The Opportunity:

In this position, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Genentech’s cross- portfolio, cross-segment distribution, access, and pricing contracts, as well as participating in or leading high impact strategies and contracting efforts.

This work includes effectively participating in and leading cross-functional account and segment strategy development and execution teams in a dynamic environment, establishing clear and effective communication across the organization, building collaborative relationships with individual contributors and leaders within Channel & Contract Management (CCM), Customer Engagement (CE), including ecosystems, National Supply & Care Delivery (NSCD), and National Access Decisions (NAD); Legal; Compliance; Regulatory; Policy, Evidence & Access Strategy (PEAS); Squads; and other functional and strategic partners to develop, evaluate, gain approval for, and execute contracts in furtherance of our CMG outcomes.

The outputs of this work have direct and meaningful impacts on CMG’s outcomes including, our ability to compete effectively, and on our ability to maintain patient access. This work requires managed care, pricing, contracting, and distribution expertise, or a demonstrable ability to learn complex market and portfolio dynamics on the job.

Specifically, you will be accountable for consistently and effectively:

  • Partnering with and influencing internal stakeholders including CE, Squad, Legal, PEAS and CCM to develop and execute access, distribution and pricing strategies

  • Providing MCC expertise to internal stakeholders to drive contracting assessments for priority products and segments, including high impact out-of-strategy initiatives

  • Possessing an understanding of managed care as well as related product and segment access, distribution and pricing strategies

  • Monitoring, evaluating and refining contract language and performance

  • Proactively identifying possible legal, regulatory, and privacy contract challenges; leading advice seeking and implementation of guidance to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies

  • Ensuring contract decisions are documented clearly, consistently, and compliantly in the system of record, as well as capturing and articulating guidance from key stakeholders in order to appropriately assess legal and operational risks; and that every executed agreement supports the account strategy and conforms to contracting decisions approved in the system of record

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree

  • You have at least 5 years previous and relevant/transferable work experience

  • You have experience in, or demonstrated ability to learn, contracting, building trusted customer relationships, in healthcare

  • You have previous contract drafting and negotiation experience

  • Demonstrable knowledge of, or aptitude to learn, current policies and guidelines that affect contracts, pricing, rebates etc. in managed care

  • Must demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a variety of settings

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives & goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • A JD or other related graduate-level degree

  • Managed care

  • Related experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry

This position requires a presence at our South San Francisco Genentech Campus;

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $110,500/yr to $205,100/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
