Job Description

The Contracts Principal Sr. is a senior level individual contributor role responsible for overseeing various capture and execution of construction and modernization opportunities. This position requires a highly organized candidate with demonstrated and strong leadership, contracting, and communication skills. Our employees work on strategic initiatives and complex facility development and construction contracting efforts right at our Holston Army Ammunition Plant (HSAAP).

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. However, based on multiple factors, remote work may be a possibility for this position, at the discretion of the business.

Join a dynamic Contracts team that supports the delivery of ammunition supplies and management of modernization development and construction contracting efforts across a diverse portfolio of government, commercial, and international customers. The Contracts organization is the trusted business partner managing customer relationships, negotiating deals, creating innovative solutions, and providing regulatory knowledge to our customers.   • You will lead and manage complex proposals, contracts, and business agreements for all phases of the acquisition lifecycle while developing and maintaining professional and dependable relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • You will have the opportunity to demonstrate specialized knowledge in areas of contracting including but not limited to operating a Government Owned, Contractor Operated facility, construction contracting while exhibiting in-depth knowledge of federal procurement regulations with an emphasis on DoW initiatives and FAR Overhaul requirements.
  • You will develop solutions to complex contracting issues, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation while ensuring solutions are consistent with organizational objectives and company policy.
  • You will support the bid/proposal process, provide analysis of solicitations, assure that bid/proposals are prepared and presented in a manner to afford BAE Systems with the greatest opportunity to obtain contract award while minimizing risk, establish and manage negotiation strategies, perform business risk assessment, provide recommended migration plans, and conduct negotiations with a high degree of negotiation expertise.
  • You will actively participate in the Change Management process and provide guidance to the business on complex contract management issues.
  • You will research and make recommendations on contract language and seek guidance on complex terms and conditions from leadership and legal.
  • You will act as the primary point of contact between BAE Systems and the Customer for all contractual matters. You will draft, prepare, and execute certain internal and external correspondence on contractual matters with autonomy but under the supervision of a Contracts leadership.
  • You will have the ability to actively participate and contribute to the implementation of new business methods, processes and contracting concepts to optimize the company and customer position.
  • Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, coordinating with other company functions as required to ensure appropriate reviews are conducted, obtaining required review and approval signatures prior to submittal of proposals or execution of contractual document, providing analysis of solicitations, maintaining accurate record and ensuring data integrity, and understanding financial principles to make sound financial decisions.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience with GOCOs and construction contracting is highly desired
  • NCMA certification or involvmement with a related contracting professional
