Kind of Work
Professional, supervisory and administrative work leading continuous improvement projects enhancing the city's infrastructure, facilitating groups and teams, managing projects, monitoring for sustainability, presenting results and recommendations, and developing metrics and measurement tools to improve initiatives across the department of Public Works operating processes with the intent toward greater efficiency and effectiveness, and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or closely related science field from an accredited college or university.*
  2. Eight (8) years of responsible professional administrative experience related to continuous improvement and/or performance management in the fields of utility service, manufacturing and/or engineering (or a related field). Two years of this experience must have been supervisory.
  3. Lean certification or Six Sigma Black Belt certification (or other closely related external certification) with a project history of completed facilitated projects or equivalent work experience.

NOTE: Professional administrative experience is defined as experience gained in a position that requires a Bachelor's degree upon entrance.

NOTE: A Master's Degree* from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of required experience.

This position requires a one (1) year probationary period.

* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify qualifying credentials claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.
Kind of Examination

A rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
