We are seeking a detail-oriented Consumer Research & Insights Manager to join our team. In this role, you will represent our category consumers and customers, designing, executing, and managing research to guide decision-making across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation in consumer insights who is motivated to grow their impact-partnering closely with leadership to translate research into compelling, meaningful stories that influence brand strategy, messaging, innovation, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and execute custom research studies across qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including survey writing, programming, analysis, and synthesis.
• Analyze and interpret data to generate insights, translating findings into clear implications and opportunities for the business.
• Partner with leadership to build customer empathy, ensuring they resonate and influence decision-making.
• Maintain a brand health tracker and deliver quarterly brand health reporting, highlighting trends and implications.
• Own ad hoc and DIY research, including writing, programming (e.g., Qualtrics), testing, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Manage and maintain customer satisfaction (CSAT) survey data, including ownership of the CSAT database/platform, data integrity, governance, ad hoc and quarterly reporting.
• Consolidate insights across studies to build a holistic understanding of the consumer, competitive landscape, and market dynamics.
• Assist in executing RFPs and managing large-scale vendor studies
• Support a cross-functional team by applying insights across a wide range of business questions and platforms.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity, applying strong quality control standards across all work.
• Operate as a self-starter and flexible problem-solver, comfortable working across multiple research tools, data sources, and business contexts.
• Identify ways to add value-finding opportunities to improve how work is done, strengthen outputs, and increase the impact of insights on the business.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Business, Statistics).
• 6+ years of experience in an in-house consumer insights role or at a market research supplier.
• Strong technical experience designing and executing research studies independently.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and turn findings into business recommendations.
• Experience with brand health trackers and customer satisfaction databases.
• Experience with a broad range of research methodologies including segmentation, customer interviews, MaxDiff, Conjoint.
• Proficiency with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Toluna Quick Surveys, Suzy, SurveyMonkey).
• Intermediate analytical skills using tools such as Excel and SPSS (or similar).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience moderating qualitative interviews.
• Comfort iterating on insights and narratives based on feedback, with a coachable and collaborative mindset.
• Familiarity with advanced statistical techniques.

The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed, and may not be applicable to other locations.
California : [$101,000-$143,000]
Connecticut and New York: [$101,000-$131,000]
Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington: [$101,000-$121,250]
Nevada: [$95,000-$131,000]
Maryland and New Jersey: [$109,000-$131,000]
Hawaii : [$95,000 - $114,000]

This opportunity can be remote, but candidates must reside in a state in which Shutterfly is registered to do business. This includes all US states except District of Columbia, North Dakota, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.
