  • Plan and integrate new technologies, including product evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, and vendor collaborations.
  • Mentor and delegate tasks to junior engineers while preparing technical documentation and white papers.
  • Support IT change management, project management processes, and assist in budgeting large-scale network projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive network analyses, capacity planning, and implement security and remote access configurations.

Job Summary and Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

GENERAL:

The position provides enterprise networking services and support for HCA, a Fortune 100 global company. This team often interacts with other HCA teams, business partners, vendors, and others, to effectively meet the business objectives and service level agreements of HCA.

SPECIFIC:

The NAS team is a high-performance team comprised of self-motivated network engineers whose primary responsibilities are top-tier network support (a.k.a. "break/fix"), critical escalations, and network Major Incident Response Team (MIRT) engagement. Team members are expected to respond promptly to infrastructure alerts, escalations by customers and/or company leadership and expected to respond immediately to patient and/or business impacting critical and MIRT events, as well as keeping the team's tickets in up-to-date status and the ticket queue at a low unassigned count.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
• General technical leadership skills (i.e.: Able to lead troubleshooting efforts during major and critical events)
• Able to provide effective training and delegation to junior engineers
• Design, deploy, and maintain complex nation-wide enterprise WAN/LAN solutions, utilizing best practice switching/routing technologies and topologies. (i.e.: Fortune 100 experience in network design, deployment and support)
• Strategic enterprise network planning and integration of new technologies
• New and best of breed product and technology evaluations and research
• Certification, Proof of Concept, and/or integration testing
• Working with vendors on product design enhancements to integrate new technologies
• Technical white papers on new technologies and operational module development
• OSPF/BGP routing protocols, IP advertising/filtering/redistribution, Quality of Service, IP multicast
• Engineering consultations of Level III network troubleshooting/problem resolutions, protocol analysis, network troubleshooting/problem determination skills with network trace/capture/analysis software
• System architecture and tiered application modules knowledge. Understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
• Network impact analysis, modeling, network capacity planning
• Software/hardware device upgrades, LAN equipment configurations/provisioning
• IP addressing, variable length subnet masking
• Wide Area Network technology provisioning and configuration (i.e.: VPLS, MPLS, Private Line) and WAN equipment configurations for bandwidth rates from DSL to 10gb, as well as Metro-E connectivity from 10mb to 10gb
• Networking services for ACS, AAA, DHCP, BOOTP, DNS, ICMP and SNMP
• In-depth understanding of Software Defined Network (SDN) i.e.: Cisco ACI
• Design and support for network security technologies and products (ASA, Check Point, Juniper SSL and NetScaler)
• Remote access technologies (i.e.: SSL-VPN, Aruba, IPSec, B2B, private line and Dial-up).
• F5 Load-balancing design and configuration
• Setting network standards and policies/procedural documentation and enterprise-level network diagramming
• Training/Mentoring peers and other ITG staff
• Project Management and Problem Management skill sets
• Meet ITG change management and project management requirements
• ITIL Knowledge
• Assist in budgeting large-scale network projects
• Minimal travel for network analysis, network upgrades and customer network consultations
• Act as a technical lead for other engineers during efforts/projects, ensuring work is being completed accurately and on time
• Provide Enterprise data networking designs, services, consulting, and support. These responsibilities will require the candidate to be a Subject Matter Expert across network technologies, services, and additional related components (as listed for this position). The candidate must provide solutions that meet HCA network requirements and maintain networking service levels.

EXPERIENCE

More than 7 years designing large scale networks (i.e.: Fortune 100 companies) required

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Cisco CCIE (Routing and Switching) or equivalent experience preferred

CCNA Wireless or CCNA Security preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be responsive, responsible, and punctual
• Must be able to excel in a great team environment
• Must be able to function autonomously, when needed
• Must show a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
• Must be willing/able to participate in on-call rotation - this is required

WORKING CONDITIONS & POSSIBLE PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Possible prolonged sitting at workstation
• Professional attire and conduct are required at all locations
• After-hours and/or weekend work will be required occasionally
• Nashville area employees are currently required to be in-office a minimum of 2 days per week
• Nashville area employees may be required to support the network for Corporate Campus buildings
• Should be able to lift network components to build, rack, and configure devices
