Full Job Description
BDO Canada is looking for a Consultant or Senior Consultant in our dynamic Construction Advisory and Dispute Services practice. This presents an exclusive opportunity for motivated professionals to work alongside industry experts, develop their skills, on complex construction projects from inception to completion, in the areas of project controls, claims and disputes, within a team focussed on growth, innovation and excellence. This is a replacement role, and the successful candidate will own the following responsibilities: - Assist in conducting forensic delay analysis, quantum analysis, productivity analysis and insurance loss quantification for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects - Perform planning and project controls, including progress tracking, cost analysis, and loss quantifications - Review project-related costs such as labor, materials, and equipment - Read and analyze design documents and estimate material quantities - Utilize planning software such as Primavera and Microsoft Project to extract and analyze data - Research and interpret document control systems and project information sources - Collaborate with senior analysts to prepare or respond to delay and cost claims, as well as expert reports. - Support engagement proposals and contribute to business development initiatives - Expand industry knowledge by attending relevant conferences and events - Visit project sites as needed How do we define success for your role? - You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspect of your work: Integrity, Respect and Collaboration. - You understand your client's industry, challenges, and opportunities; client describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high-quality work. - You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients. - You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains & attracts talent. - You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace. - You grow your expertise through learning and professional development. Your Experience and Education - Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying or related discipline - Post-graduate degree in Construction Management is an asset - 2-5 years of professional experience in a similar role, or project management-related functions in the engineering and construction industry - Knowledge of cost estimation and cost planning for construction and infrastructure projects - Skilled in Primavera or other project scheduling software - Possession of professional certifications, or a keen interest in obtaining credentials such as, PSP, CCP or CEC would be an asset - Proficiency in MS Office tools such as, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality - Effective communication skills - Willingness to travel within Canada and internationally as needed The expected range of compensation for this role is $68,000 - $104,000 annually.
