The Opportunity

Black & Veatch has an exciting opportunity to join our growing corrosion practice as part of our Infrastructure Advisory Technical Delivery team. This role supports a diverse portfolio of projects focused on pipelines, tanks, and related infrastructure across water, electric, and power generation clients.

Within our corrosion practice, we continue to see strong demand driven by aging infrastructure and the need for improved understanding of asset condition and performance. Corrosion control and cathodic protection play a critical role in extending asset life and improving system reliability.

This position provides the opportunity to:
  • Contribute to meaningful projects by supporting field investigations, evaluating corrosion risks, and developing practical solutions for asset integrity and long-term performance.
  • Participate in field investigations, data analysis, and engineering evaluations of infrastructure assets, supporting corrosion control and condition assessment activities for pipelines, tanks, and related facilities.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and field specialists across our national practice, gaining hands-on experience in cathodic protection systems, condition assessment technologies, and data-driven decision making.
  • Contribute to delivering projects for a wide range of clients, including water, electric, and power generation utilities.
  • Work in both field and office environments, developing practical and analytical skills in corrosion engineering and cathodic protection systems.
  • Build technical depth while contributing to project delivery for a wide range of clients.

The Team

Black & Veatch's Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset lifecycle, including Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity solutions, Planning and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Consulting Team supporting Solutions including Condition Assessment, Maintenance Management, and Strategic Asset Management.

The Consultant Team is a diverse team of professionals who are given a wide range of technical projects and skills to equip them to have a solid foundation and move into a specific career track as they advance and develop their skills and capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field activities related to condition assessment and corrosion control, including testing of pipelines, tanks, and associated facilities

  • Conduct and support cathodic protection system testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting

  • Analyze field data and assist in developing technical recommendations and reports

  • Support design and evaluation of new and existing corrosion monitoring and CP systems

  • Coordinate field logistics and assist with resolving field-related challenges

  • Organize and interpret asset and inspection data to support engineering decisions

  • Communicate technical findings clearly through reports and client interactions


Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
  • 4+ years of experience with corrosion control, condition assessment, or similar infrastructure work

  • AMPP/NACE CP certification (CP-2 or above)

  • Familiar with field testing methods such as:

    • Wenner 4-pin soil resistivity

    • Close Interval Survey (CIS)

    • Structure-to-electrolyte potentials

    • Stray current testing and interference evaluation

    • Non-welded pipeline electrical continuity test

    • CP system survey and troubleshooting


  • Masters degree

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License


  • Experience with cathodic protection system design

  • Experience working in a consulting environment

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

  • Ability to travel approximately 15%

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
