Full Job Description
Position Overview:
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities in support of HPDU facility projects at BWXT. This role primarily provides field oversight and escort of contractor personnel performing construction, modification, and installation work within controlled and regulated areas. The position ensures contractor work is executed safely, in compliance with site requirements, and in accordance with approved plans, procedures, and technical standards. In addition to daily field oversight and contractor performance monitoring, the Construction Supervisor contributes to project execution planning by providing constructability input into project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.

Your Day to Day as a Construction Supervisor:

Contractor Oversight and Escort:
  • Provide direct field oversight and escort of subcontractors and construction personnel working in HPDU and controlled areas.
  • Ensure contractors understand and comply with site access requirements, safety protocols, and radiological controls as applicable.
  • Monitor contractor daily performance, including productivity, quality, and adherence to scope

Construction Coordination:
  • Coordinate daily construction activities with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety teams to minimize impact on plant operations.
  • Support scheduling and sequencing of work to ensure efficient and safe project execution.
  • Coordinate work requests ensuring accurate scoping and alignment with project needs


Safety and Compliance:
  • Enforce compliance with all safety, environmental, radiological, and site-specific requirements.
  • Conduct field safety observations to ensure adherence to permits, procedures, and work controls.
  • Work Control and Permitting:
    Verify required work packages, permits, and authorizations are in place prior to execution of construction activities.
    Ensure contractors follow approved procedures, drawings, and specifications.

Field Monitoring and Quality Awareness:
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure work is performed in accordance with design requirements and quality standards.
  • Identify and escalate issues, discrepancies, or deviations to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Inspect and accept field installations and turnover packages as required

Communication and Reporting:
  • Serve as a point of contact between contractors and BWXT personnel in the field.
  • Provide updates to the Construction Manager on construction progress, issues, risks, and required corrective actions.
  • Support construction performance measurement of installed quantities for adherence to cost and schedule

Incident Response and Issue Resolution:
  • Respond to safety concerns, work stoppages, or abnormal conditions in the field.
  • Support investigation of incidents or near misses and help ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Site Control and Housekeeping:
  • Ensure construction areas are maintained in a safe, orderly condition, including proper material storage and housekeeping.
  • Verify compliance with site security and access control requirements.

Project Support:
  • Assist with constructability reviews and planning for upcoming work scopes
  • Support project closeout activities, including walkdowns, punch list resolution, and turnover to operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or construction-related certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction, industrial projects, or facility modifications; experience in regulated environments preferred.
  • Experience overseeing or coordinating contractor activities in industrial, nuclear, or chemical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, safety requirements, and work control processes.
  • Familiarity with radiological or hazardous work environments preferred.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to enforce standards and work effectively with contractors and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated environment with strict procedural compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project coordination tools.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Pay: $65,000 - $103,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $65,000 and $103,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
