Full Job Description
Our major client in the Oil & Gas industry is seeking a Construction Superintendent to work within their facilities located in Carlsbad, NM for an initial 12-month assignment (subject to extension).

Summary:

Coordinates and facilitates the construction of distribution lines. Responsible for meeting the safety, quality, scope, schedule, and financial objectives of distribution construction projects.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages contractor safety, work progress and completion
  • Coordinates field activities for electric distribution projects.
  • During construction processes, supports and coordinates project execution.
  • Supports the project accountability for permanent in-service date.
  • Performs field inspections, lead crews and documents findings to ensure compliance with complex material, equipment, or design specifications
  • Undertakes special assignments as directed
  • Ability to recognize and address safety issues on-site
  • Inspects and monitors the installation of Distribution lines and equipment.
  • Supports the scheduling and prioritizing of work to meet deadlines
  • Provides field support for the design and construction of electric distribution facilities
  • Coordinates field activities for electric distribution projects which may include but not limited to field inspections, job site readiness and obtaining required permits
  • Reviews and supports post construction material reconciliation, as-built design, and contractor labor accuracy per approved design
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable OSHA, NEC, NESC, DOT, CFR
  • Makes sure work is performed in compliance with safety guidelines, company policies and procedures, work standards.
  • Ability to manage, coordinate, plan, & organize several concurrent complex project and activities under required time constraints
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of right of way terms.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and construction designs
  • In-depth understanding of construction methods, techniques, standards, and equipment required for construction of electric distribution systems
  • Experience in dealing with critical situations with minimal or no direction from supervisors
  • When acting in a leadership capacity, recognize and define objectives requiring action by the group
Certifications/Qualifications:
  • Have completed a qualified apprenticeship program, and possess a journeyman Lineman certification.
  • Have experience managing and running distribution crews.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to promote team performance by demonstrating a positive attitude, self-motivation and flexibility
  • Ability to apply risk analysis.
  • Apply electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering knowledge to assist with design and field issue resolution in support of current Design Engineering requirements and PE Sealing Process.
  • Ability to coordinate field changes, material or equipment delivery/inspections, and ensure work is performed in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Works independently and applies knowledge to project plans and designs; coordinates very complex projects, assignments, and tasks associated with the installation of distribution facilities.
  • Ability to recognize and address safety issues on-site.
