Full Job Description
Construction Superintendent

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role manages daily field operations, coordinates subcontractors and self-performed work, develops and maintains short-term project schedules, monitors project progress, and proactively identifies and resolves issues that could impact timelines or costs. The Superintendent ensures compliance with safety, quality assurance, environmental, and client-specific programs

SuperintendentResponsibilities
• Managing the day-to-day fieldactivities to ensure that the project milestone dates and overall schedulecompletion date is met
• Creating short-intervallook-ahead project schedules that make sure that upcoming events arecommunicated, tracked and are being proactively attended to
• Creating and maintaining aculture that values safety, health and cleanliness
• Managing and coordinating thework to ensure that it is constructed in an orderly and deliberate manner thatis consistent with the standard-of-care set froth in the contract documentsthat is viewed by industry as an effort that is consistent with best-practicesstandards
• Establishing and maintainingall dimensional controls for the project to include the use of third partysurvey and layout personnel when appropriate
• Verifying that all work isinstalled in a workmanlike manner (i.e.: plumb, level, straight, etc...)
• Manage and look-ahead no lessthan two weeks to proactively identifying issues that could lead to problemsand facilitate solutions
• Obtaining all inspections andensuring that the quality aspects of the physical work are fully documented
• Ensuring all aspects of theproject are compliant with all contract terms and legal requirements thatgovern the project and the community in which the project(s) takes place
• Administering client specificprograms, such as QAQC, Safety, Environmental Stewardship, etc.
• Conducting and/or attendingpre-construction, progress and other project and staff meetings
• Conducting and/or participatingin regularly held meetings involving internal staff and external stake holderssuch as owners, subcontractors, etc.
• Meeting with clientrepresentatives on a regular basis to discuss the status of projects, toproactively identify and resolve problems and to assure that the client is keptknowledgeable about the status of the work
• Managing self-performedactivities to ensure that work is being performed within the establishedproject budget
• Managing changes in projectscope to ensure that the most contemporary contract documents are being used atall times to prevent avoidable rework
• Administering contracts,subcontracts, purchase orders and other agreement to ensure that the scope,terms and conditions are consistently and proactively being met
• Managing the punch list andproject closeout process to assure timely completion
• Maintaining daily paperworksuch as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence
• Providing timely and cordialinteraction with supporting work groups, such as accounting, HR, SAFETY etc.
• Directing and managing the workloads of supporting staff to include training, mentoring and follow up; and
• Participating in andencouraging staff to seek out life-long learning opportunities and professionaldevelopment.
