G. A. West seeks a hands-on software architect or senior integration engineer to automate our existing earned value process for industrial construction. Our estimating and project teams already have methods for assigning earned values to completed work. We need someone who can turn those methods into a reliable, drawing-based field application and connect the results to labor hours and project reporting.
The initial workflow should allow a QA/QC team member to open a drawing on an iPad, select or mark a defined work item, and record its verified status. For piping, statuses may include installed, bolted, welded, supported, and insulated. Each approved status earns the value assigned to it by the estimate under our existing rules. The system must accumulate earned quantities and hours, compare them with hours charged to the relevant area or work package, and report crew productivity daily.
This position is onsite and remote work with limited travel.
The lead will work with our field, QA/QC, estimating, project controls, and IT teams to:
1. Convert existing estimate items, quantities, and earning rules into a controlled digital data set.
2. Build or configure interactive drawing markups linked to identifiable work items and completion stages.
3. Give QA/QC a practical iPad workflow for recording, reviewing, and correcting progress in the field.
4. Prevent duplicate credit when an item is marked more than once or appears on multiple drawings.
5. Show approved earned value to date by area, system, work package, trade, and crew where labor coding supports that level of comparison.
6. Connect actual hours from Traqspera and/or Viewpoint Spectrum to the corresponding earned work.
7. Produce daily views of earned hours, actual hours, productivity factors, and exceptions requiring review.
8. Preserve a record of who marked and approved each item, when its status changed, the applicable drawing revision, and supporting QA/QC documentation.
9. Once the field system is working, guide its connections to Timberline estimating, P6 scheduling, and G. A. West's broader ERP environment.
Preferred background: Fieldwire administration and API development; interactive construction drawings; mobile applications that work offline; industrial piping or mechanical construction; and estimating and job-cost integrations. Experience with Traqspera, Spectrum, Timberline/Sage, P6, and Power BI is a plus.
