Full Job Description
Position Summary:

This individual will be expected to role model and foster the attitude, measures and approaches necessary to create a workplace environment/image that embodies the KBE Mission of Building Excellence Together by exemplifying the values of Dedication, Innovation, Pride and Integrity.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Safety:

The Site Safety Manager will partner with the KBE Field Staff to ensure project safety compliance This position will eliminate and control risk that could lead to injury or property damage by implementing the KBE Safety Program daily. The Site Safety manager will contribute to the development of the overall safety program and jobsite culture.

The Safety Manager shall actively participate in the goal of the OSHA Partnership of keeping incident rates to below the national average by performing the following:

Orientation:
  • Deliver a detailed orientation to all employees prior to them performing work, orientation must clearly explain the KBE working rules for this project and the disciplinary action that could take place if necessary.


Field Audits:
  • Create safety reports daily for the activity on the site using the KBE safety reporting app. Positive and negative issues will be documented daily. SSM will spend a lot of time in the field.
  • Safety manager will correct issues in the field immediately or shut down all potential employee exposures.
  • Disciplinary program must be enforced.


Subcontractors:

  • Hold weekly safety meetings with all foremen. An agenda and minutes will be documented for these meetings
  • Ensure the sub has corporate safety program that all employees have read and understand.
  • Preconstruction meeting with safety portion shall take place for each subcontractor prior to starting work.
  • Tool box talks shall be submitted to KBE weekly by subcontractors. Topic shall be selected by the Site Safety Manager
  • Other administrative shall be reviewed from subcontractor such as crane permits, suspended load permits, hot work permits, fall protection plans, silica prevention plans, daily scaffold inspections, and much more


Training:
  • Collect proof of training for all employees in areas it is required for activities to be performed


Pedestrian safety and secured site:
  • Ensure perimeter fence and signage is in place to keep pedestrians out of the site as much as possible.
  • Put a plan in place to eliminate vandalism or theft. Make sure the subs lock up their tools and materials


Pre-Task Plans:
  • Must be filled out by the sub per task and reviewed by KBE, all employees involved in the task must also read and sign it


Ordinance, environmental, and weather:
  • Safety manager will plan for snow removal and winter protection during the winter months, as well as implementing hot weather safety procedures in the summer
  • Dust control must be in place effectively
  • Prepare the project for high winds
  • Noise and working hours will be within the city guidelines


Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 5 years in the construction industry as a Safety Person or having a position in which safety was a major function of your job description
  • Construction safety certifications and training preferred
  • Strong background with construction safety procedures and practices
  • Knowledge on how to read and interpret OSHA Standards and other standards used throughout the industry
  • Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
