Role: Construction Project Manager

What is the role?

The Construction Project Manager supports the planning, execution, and delivery of facilities and construction projects across Westerra Credit Union's locations and branch network. This role manages projects from concept through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, compliance requirements, and quality standards are consistently met as the organization grows and evolves.

What will be expected of me?

Project Management

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of facilities projects including branch openings, remodels, relocations, and closures
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Track project progress and proactively adjust plans to meet timelines and milestones
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely decision-making


Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with contractors, architects, and external service providers
  • Ensure vendor compliance with contracts, insurance requirements, and safety standards
  • Conduct site visits to oversee work quality and adherence to project specifications


Facilities Planning & Maintenance

  • Partner with leadership on long-term facilities strategy and space planning
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and capital improvement initiatives
  • Ensure consistency in branch design, branding, functionality, and member experience


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations (including ADA, OSHA, and building codes)
  • Support physical security and safety standards across all facilities
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as needed


Budget & Reporting

  • Manage project budgets and capital expenditures
  • Track costs, review invoices, and provide accurate financial reporting
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines
  • Serve as a mentor to more junior team members
  • Other duties as assigned

What am I bringing?

Experience/Education:
  • 4+ years of relevant project management experience
  • Prior experience with project management and facilities-related systems
  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, construction management, or a related field preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Valid Colorado driver's license and ability to travel between Westerra's branch locations using a dependable personal vehicle
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel for budgeting and reporting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge effectively on the job
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Accountable for deliverables with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Uses sound judgment; supervision required for overall task direction
  • Experienced understanding of the business line and basic understanding of facilities and project disciplines
  • Able to manage problems that are difficult but typically not complex


What is the work environment like, and are there physical requirements for this role?

  • Hybrid: Typically, a dispersed, flexible team environment both on Westerra campus and remote. Employees must reside in Colorado or be willing to relocate prior to starting employment. Residency is required for payroll and state tax purposes.

Salary: in addition to the starting annual salary of $78,204 - $97,754, this role is also eligible for Westerra's self-funding reward plan. This plan pays out a cash incentive annually if Westerra hits specific criteria tied to financial goals and this role has a direct impact on the outcome of those results!
