This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.

Job Description

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will push the boundaries of what's possible in project management, supporting Blue Origin's Construction Center of Excellence team. You will make substantive contributions to the team's impact on all aspects of building our infrastructure and world-class facilities. You will manage all aspects of the construction project, including planning, execution, and completion, while also maintaining budgets, schedules, and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with teams and stakeholders, and independently.

Responsibilities:
  • Providing field oversight and assistance, and creating a customized schedule
  • Negotiating contracts with General Contractors and subcontractors
  • Development and management of all project documentation
  • Review compliance with state and government regulations and ensure project or site location follows all guidelines
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects while being innovative and creative in challenging situations
  • Performs site visits and monitors progress of construction activities regularly, and holds regular status meetings with all sub-teams
  • Ensure construction activities move according to pre-determined schedule(s)
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, required documentation, presentations analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Working with project teams to proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Approves all invoices and manage the billing process
  • Represent the Company in project meetings, client meetings, etc.
  • Initiating, planning, completing, monitoring, and closing construction projects throughout their lifecycles, to include:
    • Developing project plans, budgets, and schedules.
    • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Eliciting and documenting stakeholder requirements
    • Identifying project dependencies, risks, and schedule impacts.
    • Reporting project progress (status, risks, opportunities, roadblocks, and KPIs)
    • Assisting in contract negotiations.
    • Monitoring contractor progress via frequent site visits.
    • Reviewing and approving invoices and payment applications.
    • Evaluating and processing change requests and change orders.
    • Assisting in resolution of payment or performance disputes
    • Solve daily project issues


Qualifications:
  • Prefer B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management
  • Minimum over 8 years of experience with complex facility construction and renovations projects to include both vertical and horizontal construction
  • Experience leading and managing small- to medium-sized teams integrating multiple subsystems to meet a top level system requirement
  • Strong personnel management and mentoring skills
  • Recent facility development or management experience supporting mission critical operations
  • Experience in sub-contract management of suppliers including request for proposal, specification and statement of work
  • Project leadership with the ability to work with stakeholders, knowledge of manufacturing operations, Launch Site environment, assembly processes, and quality control
  • Proficient in project management software (Milestones, MS Project)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong project management, budget management and team leadership skills
  • Project planning, schedule and cost estimation
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations


Desired:
  • Experience with launch site, spacecraft manufacturing, Project leadership with the ability to work with stakeholders, knowledge of manufacturing operations, Launch Site environment, assembly processes, and quality control integration and test
  • Knowledge and experience in Local and National Codes
  • Knowledge and experience in Safety plans and programs to comply with laws, regulations and policies
