Job Summary

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for independently leading the delivery of complex, mission-critical data center construction projects. This role manages projects from initiation through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover while ensuring alignment with business objectives, budget commitments, quality standards, and schedule requirements.

As a recognized subject matter expert, the Construction Project Manager drives project execution excellence, develops business cases and improvement initiatives, contributes to construction standards and best practices, and provides guidance to project teams and stakeholders across disciplines. The role partners closely with Design, Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Network, and external vendor organizations to successfully deliver data center capacity and infrastructure investments.

Responsibilities

Project Management
  • Independently lead complex data center construction projects from inception through handover
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk, and operational readiness objectives
  • Develop and review business cases, project plans, cost forecasts, and delivery strategies
  • Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with company standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations
  • Lead project governance, status reporting, issue resolution, and executive communications


Construction Delivery
  • Direct and coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and commissioning partners
  • Oversee ground-up construction, expansions, renovations, retrofits, and critical infrastructure upgrades
  • Monitor project performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Evaluate construction methods, procurement strategies, and delivery approaches to improve outcomes
  • Ensure project documentation is complete and maintained throughout the project lifecycle


Subject Matter Expertise
  • Serve as a recognized construction project management expert for mission-critical environments
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of construction standards, processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery efficiency, cost performance, quality, and risk management
  • Support lessons learned reviews and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the organization


Stakeholder and Vendor Management
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Legal, and IT
  • Manage vendor performance, contract compliance, change management, and commercial considerations
  • Influence decision-making through data-driven recommendations and strong project leadership


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically 7+ years of progressively responsible construction project management experience delivering mission-critical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, telecommunications, or data center construction projects
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent construction projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Demonstrated experience in project controls including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, and change management
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems supporting critical infrastructure environments
  • Experience managing general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and commissioning providers
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive project outcomes without direct authority
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30% within the United States, mostly within the NE Region


Preferred
  • Direct data center construction experience
  • Experience with large-scale capital programs and complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, LEED, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of construction contracting strategies, procurement methodologies, and commercial management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Visio, and project reporting tools


The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - New York City Office NYO1 : 130,000 - 194,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
