Responsibilities

  • Maintain and distribute current contract plans and specifications.
  • Conduct field checks to verify compliance with plans and standards.
  • Document project progress with photos and reports.
  • Track change order proposals and maintain project files.

Full Job Description
We are seeking a Construction Project Engineer - Sustainability to support the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and its BuildLACCD Sustainability Team.

This role will support the planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout of sustainability and energy-related capital improvement projects, including energy efficiency, building management systems, renewable energy, EV charging infrastructure, electrification, and other sustainability initiatives.

Hybrid Schedule: One (1) work-from-home (WFH) day per week

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and engineering support to Project Managers and the Sustainability Team throughout all phases of assigned projects.
  • Support sustainability initiatives involving energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and carbon reduction.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and District personnel to address technical issues and RFIs.
  • Maintain and distribute current contract plans and specifications.
  • Conduct field checks to verify construction compliance with plans, specifications, District standards, and applicable DSA requirements.
  • Document project progress through photographs, daily reports, and project notes.
  • Track change order proposals, field orders, and approved change orders.
  • Maintain project files and record drawings.
  • Log and review submittals for conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, monthly invoices, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Provide additional project and construction support as needed.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar or equivalent position involving project or construction management.
  • Experience with commercial, public, or educational facility construction projects valued at more than $15 million.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design process.
  • Experience supporting sustainability, energy-efficiency, modernization, or other capital improvement projects is highly desirable.
