Project Overview:Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.
Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.
Job Summary:The Construction People Based Quality (PBQ) Site Lead will report to the Lead Quality Control Engineer (LQCE) and will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the implementation of the People Based Quality program for Project Cardinal. This role will help sustain and mature the PBQ program by supporting craft to craft observations, action items, training and development of the craft PBQ Volunteer members. Candidate will evaluate metrics and perform observation dashboard maintenance along with tracking progress of PBQ focus areas, trending items, and areas of improvement.
The PBQ Site Lead will facilitate quality onboarding of craft, weekly meetings with the PBQ members, and support the escalation of inspections on site with pre-inspections by full-time craft members, volunteers, or personally to increase the first-time pass rate of inspections. Communicate results of key metrics and takeaways from the craft quality program in regular internal and external meetings with the client.
This position will work with project and functional teams to promote "Right the First Time" quality, support PBQ observations and improvement activities, assist with apparent cause evaluations, trending and root cause analysis. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:- Support the LQCE in implementing and maintaining the PBQ program.
- Including hitting performance metrics for the program, driving new initiatives with the team and measuring the performance of the initiative after implementation.
- Coordinate and support PBQ volunteers and team members in performing observations and related activities that promote "Right the First Time" quality and support continued development of team members.
- Conduct data analysis and develop performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of PBQ improvement initiatives, identify trends, and recommend areas for further improvement.
- Monitor PBQ metrics and use outputs to help prioritize activities, observations, training, improvement opportunities, and when more pre-inspections are necessary. Making sure to size the program to meet the changing needs of the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 8-10 years of relevant work experience in quality, construction, engineering, operations, process improvement, training, or a related field.
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Experience providing constructive feedback, analyzing data, and supporting continuous improvement activities.
- Experience working with craft, field engineering, construction, quality, or operations teams, with demonstrated ability to coordinate work activities and influence team performance without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve actionable results in a timely manner and organized enough to properly report the results of the program and actions taken to improve the quality of the program.
- Experience establishing, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting performance data, metrics, trends, and improvement actions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable using databases, dashboards, reporting tools, Visio, Power BI, or equivalent tools to support data analysis and communication.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Recognized PBQ training or development certification, quality certification, facilitation certification, ASQ certification, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification, or similar quality/process improvement credential.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) is preferred but not required.
