Full Job Description
RVE (an Ardurra company) is seeking a Construction Observer NICET II/III to join our team in Cherry Hill, Morganville and/or Secaucus NJ.

Infrastructure and transportation projects have a tremendous impact on the local economy, directly affect the daily lives of end users and improve area safety. RVE has longstanding relationships with several infrastructure and transportation entities; we provide numerous clients with Engineer of Record, Program Manager and extension of staff services.

Our professionals provide bridge engineering design and condition inspection services; a complete range of highway-related services ranges from full-design and layout, resurfacing to full reconstruction; and comprehensive professional traffic engineering services.

Our highly qualified multi-disciplined design and construction management team consists of more than 60 professionals including registered professional engineers, NICET certified resident engineers and staff with specialized certification from ACI, NACE, and NECEPT among others.

Primary Function:

This professional will assist in the project record keeping, measuring and tracking daily quantities as constructed, and generating daily inspection reports. This individual is expected to have an extensive background in construction inspection with clients such as local County government agencies, NJDOT, the NJTA, DRPA, and DRJTBC.

The ideal candidate will have approximately 5 to 15 years of experience in heavy highway construction projects.

Primary Duties:
  • Act in the capacity of Lead Inspector to conduct construction supervision and field inspection of the work in progress to determine if the work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents, both alone and/or as part of a team.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and local improvement projects.
  • Work with clients to inform the public about upcoming work and potential impacts. Work with the contractor to minimize disruptions to the public.
  • Provide and maintain all records related to the project in question including daily quantities.
  • Possess strong communication, computer, and writing skills and be experienced with the review and comprehension of CPM Schedules
  • Support the Project Manager / Resident Engineer with all project submittals and requests for information, ensuring the proper Engineer performs the necessary review and/or guidance.
  • Keep a logbook of all observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide the client with daily reports to include all labor trades, equipment supplied by Contractor, and measured pay quantities.
  • Review applications for payment with Contractor and make recommendations for progress payments to the Client.
  • Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform final project review for project closeout.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by project and business needs.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • NICET II Highway Construction or equivalent required
  • ACI-Concrete Field Testing
  • Ability to clarify and concisely express thoughts verbally and in written correspondence/reports/specifications.
  • Provides effort and takes pride in all work assignments produced.
  • Not afraid to ask for guidance/assistance in order to expedite the date of assignment deliverables.
  • Ability to simultaneously work on group and individual assignments.
  • Must have effective communication, management and writing skills.
  • Must be skilled in the use of Word/Excel products.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $105,000.00 Annually
