CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING (CMT) DEPARTMENT MANAGER

Career opportunity available for an experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Department Manager in our Orlando, Florida branch office. The successful candidate will lead an established department providing construction materials testing, special inspections, and quality assurance services for a diverse client base that includes municipalities, counties, utilities, educational institutions, transportation agencies, industrial clients, developers, contractors, and private owners throughout Central Florida.

The Orlando office maintains a strong portfolio of continuing services contracts and long-standing client relationships, providing a stable workload across public infrastructure, commercial, industrial, institutional, and private development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, growth, and profitability of the department while maintaining Ardaman's reputation for technical excellence and responsive client service.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of the Orlando CMT Department.
  • Supervise and mentor technical, laboratory, and field personnel.
  • Monitor staffing levels, workload distribution, utilization, and project schedules.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients and public agencies.
  • Prepare and review proposals, budgets, scopes of work, and contracts.
  • Support business development activities and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Oversee laboratory operations and quality management procedures.
  • Review project reports, test results, and technical deliverables.
  • Monitor department financial performance, including revenue, profitability, and accounts receivable.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, professionalism, and client service.
  • Coordinate with geotechnical, environmental, and special inspection staff to provide integrated project solutions.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, supervisory, or team management experience.
  • Familiarity with construction materials testing, special inspections, laboratory operations, or quality assurance programs.
  • Experience working with public-sector and/or private-sector development and construction projects.
  • Experience developing client relationships and supporting business development efforts preferred.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, personnel, and client relationships in a fast-paced consulting environment.
